JOB TITLE:              Beamer Front Support

 

REPORTS TO:         Beaming/Slashing Production Manager        

 

PURPOSE:               

To safely and efficiently assist beamer operator safely to set up, run and doff the beamer machine.  To safely and efficiently transport loom beams to the warehouse, using hoists and PIVs.  To safely and efficiently stage and prepare empty loom beams for the beamer machine.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:        

  1. Operate a hoist/ crane to stage and prepare empty loom beams.
  2. Operate a hoist/ crane to load full loom beams into racks.
  3. Operate a PIV to transport full loom beams and loom beam racks to the warehouse.
  4. To assist beamer operator with startup and doffing.

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to work safely
  2. Ability to read and write and follow directions
  3. Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
  4. Ability to understand and follow beamer front support standard work procedures
  5. Ability to use PIVs and hoist/ cranes to stage empty and full loom beams.
  6. Ability to pass beamer front support tests and become certified by consistently performing standard work as required.
  7. Good communication skills

 

 

MACHINES, TOOLS, MATERIALS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Beamer Machine, Scissors, Hook Knives, Ladder, Yarn, Beams, Brown Wrapping Paper, Hoist, PIVs, gloves, steel toed shoes

 

AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME:  6 Weeks

  1. Standing:  

Ability to stand while staging and transporting loom beams.

  1. Moving

Move freely throughout the beamer department, including walking the machine fronts and walking in the creels

  1. Pull

Ability to pull yarn through creels for a pullover

  1. Lifting:

The ability to install and remove drive dogs.

10% of day

  1. Lifting

The ability to install and remove multiple 10-foot metal rods and lease sticks.

50% of day

  1. Reach:

Ability to reach yarn above head to pull yarn sheds.  Ability guide beams into loom beam racks.

50% of day

  1. Bending:  

Ability to pick up objects from the floor

25% of day

  1. Access

The ability to use ladders. The ability to ascend and descend catwalks.

25% of day

  1. Walking

Ability to walk through the plant to get to work station, meeting rooms, break area, and to perform audits.

10% of day

  1. Environment: 

Ability to work around polyester, nylon and acetate

  1. Environment: 

 

Ability to work in an unconditioned indoor environment where temperature varies with the weather.
