Primary purpose of the position
Responsible for stock replenishment, stock control, checking prices and availability and accountability for parts removed and used and the implementation of a critical spares list.
The main purpose of this stores position is to ensure the requirement for the production line are met and levels of stock are stored accurately and efficiently whilst maintaining detailed records on an internal IT system. Booking in stock across the site and liaising with Finance to raise PO’s for site services.
Performing stock checks will be a regular part of this position alongside liaising with the production and delivery teams across the business.
Principle Accountabilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Respond to enquiries and correspondence via emails
- The monitoring of Stores and transactions including stock checks (critical spares, consumables, workwear etc)
- You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and relevant stock levels and, where applicable, to source new products from new suppliers.
- The accurate booking and management of components in the stores using SAP system.
- Raising and progressing of purchase orders including goods receipting.
- Updating and maintaining internal records to ensure data held on the system is accurate and audit ready.
- Resolution of invoice queries in conjunction with the Finance Department
- Resolving discrepancies with suppliers
- Working with SAP system to process most Stores activities
- Organise transport & time schedules for shipments and deliveries
- Follow all relevant operation procedures and instructions so that work carried out a controlled and consistent manner
- As the Stores Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring items are easily located and for providing support for stock items and held stock onsite
- Housekeeping of the stores area to maintain a clean environment.
- Obtaining quotes from existing and new suppliers
- Undertake any other duties or activities reasonably requested in order to meet departmental or company goals.
- Stock checking and maintaining accurate stock levels using the Agility system.
- Use initiative to order whilst being cost aware.
- Data input into the Agility and inventory system.
Required Experience
- Ability to prioritise workloads and adapt to new challenges
- Knowledge of stock ordering and stock control principles
- Understanding purchasing principles and practices and appreciation of the importance of procedural compliance.
- Understanding or organisational Health & Safety requirements and safe systems of work/operating procedures.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and good adaption to new systems
- Excellent communication skills, be able to communicate via email, phone and face to face with the ability to resolve issues.
- Ability to work without supervision and manage interaction with colleagues.
- Excellent organisational skills and effective team player.
