POSITION TITLE

Technical Associate – Coatings Additives and Colorants

 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

This hourly position is for the Coatings Additives and Colorants, a segment of Milliken Chemicals Division.  The role provides laboratory support for the development of new products and applications as well as the support of currently manufactured products. The position is located at the Westlake, OH Facility.  Hours of work are Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with some flex time.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support technical service team:
    • Sample preparations
    • Application of coatings on substrates
    • Conducting measurements critical to testing the performance of the coating
    • Data input into software platform
    • Equipment maintenance
    • Raw materials and supply inventory management
    • Maintain clean and organized work environment
    • Commitment to EH&S
  • Participates in company supported educational courses or trainings required to build knowledge of additives, raw materials to coatings and coatings technologies

 

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry is required (Master’s degree is a plus)

 

The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:

  • Experience working in a chemical laboratory setting; including safely handling and mixing chemicals, documenting experiments, and operating analytical equipment
  • Proficient in use of scientific method, critical thinking, and problem solving
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Team-player
  • Accepting direction and responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Skills in computer science or programming, mechanic engineering, skill to build/assemble equipment’s.
