Job Title: Engineering Services Manager

 

Job Summary: 

This position is located at the Milliken Gillespie Plant located in beautiful Union, SC and reports to the location’s Operations Manager.  This position is responsible for coordinating and supporting all processes related to the maintenance of the plant’s building, production equipment, auxiliary equipment and environmental systems. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Own the process - develop knowledge and build on experience to support daily operations
    • Results focused – take ownership and accountability for producing tangible results
    • Develop a thorough understanding of all factors and conditions that impact the processes and products, including environmental impacts.
    • Use sound communication, organization and daily management systems to guide and direct team members on safety, maintenance, production and cost initiatives.
    • Ownership of engineering metrics including preventative maintenance compliance / effectiveness, breakdown downtime/metrics, while also playing a key role in all production metrics including efficiency, throughput, productivity.
    • Ensure optimal performance of all mechanical and electrical equipment to include continuous improvement, downtime reduction, energy consumption reduction and environmental impact:
      • Digital Drives, PLC, and Process Control Systems
      • Plant Computer Systems and Networks
      • Electrical Power Distribution and systems
      • Motor, Gearbox, Belt/Pulley and mechanical power transfer

 

    • Establish collaborative internal and external relationships:
      • Engineering services team members
      • Plant Departments
      • Outside Contractors and Vendors

 

    • Responsible for all Building and Grounds items
      • Safety Compliance of the facility – fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, security system, fire prevention, etc.
      • Environmental Compliance of the facility – Air Permits, Chemical Maps, Hazardous Material Handling, etc.
      • Utility Monitoring and Improvements – Natural Gas, Compressed Air, Water, Power

 

  • Focus on continuous improvement to drive safety, production and cost
    • Participate and engage associates in the safety process
    • Incorporate creative thinking into the problem-solving approach to identify unique and different ways to make things better/more consistent/faster/cheaper/efficient
    • Use sound project management skills to guide and direct multiple improvement/capital projects
    • Keep Operations Manager informed of all situations and decisions that could impact the performance of the location
    • Maintain appropriate performance reports (building, production, environmental) and prepare diagrams, charts, tables to reflect findings and support recommendations

 

  • Be a valued leader in a team oriented culture
    • Manage a team of microprocessor technicians, electrical technicians, and mechanical technicians and lead with a positive mindset and high expectations
    • Foster a working environment that promotes open communications, teamwork, and individual engagement to accomplish goals and objectives
    • Ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner to meet delivery objectives
    • Ensure that performance evaluations of team members are completed as required, provide continuous feedback on personnel performance issues, and take immediate action to recognize achievements and address deficiencies or problems

 

 

Qualifications - Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field (preferred mechanical or electrical engineering)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Preferred - Experience managing a team of associates
  • Preferred – 3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
