Kingsley Plant Style Change Technician

 

POSITION REPORTS TO:

Weave Production Manager

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Style Change Technician sets up machines for new patterns, starts up the pattern, and ensures the machine is running the correct, quality fabric.  The Style Change Technician is also able to troubleshoot and take the proper corrective action when the above scenario does not happen.  As needed the Style Change Tech will diagnose faults and use tools to correct mechanical failures.  Will also identify cloth defects and get them corrected.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setup and startup new pattern
  • Making filling changes
  • Respond to maintenance audits of new patterns
  • Troubleshoot weave machine issues.
  • Identify and get fabric and machine defects corrected.
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary as required. 

 

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Be a qualified technician
  • Able to correctly identify defects and machine issues, document, and make sure issues are addressed.
  • Should be self-directed to the point of working with little to no supervision.

 

SKILLS – REQUIRED  

  • Ability to read and write and follow directions
  • Basic Math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong discipline
  • Good organization skills

 

MACHINES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

  1. Airjet weave machine (all types)
  2. Reed hook, leno hook, scissors, flashlight
  3. Yarn, both dyed and greige fabric
  1. Both US and metric tools of all types
  2. PC Computer/BARCO
  3. Steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, ear protection, LOTO equipment

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION

  1. Standing Ability to stand while working 90% of day 
  2. Sitting Ability to sit down 5% of day 
  3. Moving: Must be able to move around a 316,000 sq. ft. weaving facility with concrete floors to get to supplies, equipment, and to perform elements of job. 80% of day 
  4. Reaching/Lifting:  Must be able to reach anywhere from 8” to 24" into a filling case to grasp filling packages weighing between 8 and 25 pounds and place package on creel stand.  Lifting press rollers 100 lb (with assistance).  Lifting 30 lb take up motors & 40 lb let off motors as needed for repairs. 60% of day 
  5. Climbing: Must be able to step up and down off weaving platform which are 10" and 5" off the ground to inspect machines and start them. 40% of day 
  6. Push/Pull/Reach: Reach 12” up to 48" to grasp a warp yarn end.  Guide reed hook through heddle and reed, then pull warp yarn end through.  10% of day
  7. Bending: Must be able to bend and stoop to effect repairs to weaving machines.  Must be able to stoop at Staubli head panel to repair.  Must be able to go on hands and knees to change out cables and valves. 30% of day
  8. Walking: Ability to walk through out the plant on concrete surface. 70% of day 
  9. Dexterity: Ability to tie knots and draw ends in fine denier yarns to target times. 30% of day
  10. Visual Acuity: Ability to identify both warp and filling defects in fabric on the machine and in swatches.  To see fine denier yarn to draw ends correctly through correct heddles and drop wires.  To read and understand draw graphs, computer screen or any written instructions. 40% of day
  11. Work Environment: Ability to work in cotton dust environment.  Meet cotton pulmonary function requirements.  Must be able to hear power equipment operating in work area.  Ability to work in high noise production environment and wear approved ear protection, safety glasses, and steel toes.  This job operates in a manufacturing facility.   This role regularly works around moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment.  100% of day
  12. Work Environment: Ability to follow defined break schedule. Regular and predictable attendance on assigned rotating shift schedule.  100% of day
  13. Other:  Must have ability to prioritize job functions in order to maximize production.  Must have ability to understand mechanical systems and troubleshoot issues to successfully repair.  Must comply with company rules, including but not limited to, safety, attendance, and other job specifications.  100% of day  

 

SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:

Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands. 

  • 1st Shift: 8 AM – 4 PM 
  • 2nd Shift: 4 PM – 12 AM (Midnight) 
  • 3rd Shift: 12 AM (Midnight) - 8 AM
