POSITION OVERVIEW

The Milliken Kingsley Plant is a world class air-jet weaving operation in Thomson, Georgia.  We weave fabric for end products such as duct tape, medical tape, uniforms, military, home furnishings, and industrial products. 

Manager of people and work processes.  Responsible for maintaining detailed & complete process specifications. With his staff, optimize every process in the plant. Accountable for all off-quality that is process related, then establishing and following corrective actions.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing process at the Kingsley Location.
  • Establish collaborative internal and external relationships that ensure all aspects of the manufacturing process operate successfully.
  • Initiate plans and processes to minimize manufacturing cost through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital.
  • Analyze production and quality control data to meet quality objectives.
  • Manage spending in relationship to production volume.
  • Schedule production operation to allow maximum return on efficiencies.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures are followed.
  • Understand and effectively use the SAP/BARCO Systems.
  • Train, develop, and coach production associate to foster a working environment that promotes open communications, teamwork and individual engagement to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • -Ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • -Ensure that written performance evaluations of associates are completed as required; provide continuous feedback on personal performance issues; take immediate action to recognize achievements and address deficiencies or problems.
  • -Ensure safety rules are clearly understood and followed.
  •  Follow safety leader standard work.
  • Understand and support the innovation efforts of the business units.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelors Degree or demonstrated management skills and experience as Milliken Variable Overhead Supervisor
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Results focused – take ownership and accountability for producing tangible results
  • Professional – demonstrate integrity and respect for others. 
  • Recognize and value differences.
  • Detail oriented, strong organizational skills; strong problem-solving capability

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience managing multiple entry-level associates in manufacturing environment.

MACHINES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Office Equipment, Computer software and hardware.  Books, Manuals. All Plant Equipment including airjet weave machines, slashers, beamers, inspection frames, powered and manual material handling equipment.  Weaver tools. Technician Tools.  SAP, BARCO Monitoring, Machine gauges.  Both natural and synthetic yarns and fabrics.

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Ear plugs/Slip resistant shoes/ or steel toed shoes

  1. Standing: Must be able to stand to observe the operation of the facility up to 100 times per                  day in a stationary position.                                   Up to 25% of day
  2. Sitting:          Must be able to sit & participate in meetings lasting 1 to 8 hours. Usually less than 10% of day
  3. Moving:         Must be able to move over 316,000 square feet weaving facility to make observations for problems, follow up with associates, and assure process correctness on a daily basis for 8 Hours/day.     Up to 95% of day 
  4. Lifting:          Must be able to lift 25 lbs. of supplies 20 - 30 times/day to transport materials around the plant.                                         2% of day
  5. Ascending/Descending: Must be able to step up and down off weaving platform which are 10" and 5" off the ground to inspect machines and start them.   10% of day 
  6. Push/Pull/Reach: Must be able to reach 12” up to 48" to grasp a warp yarn end.  Guide reed hook through heddle and reed, then pull warp yarn end through.  Must be able to reach anywhere from 8” to 24" into a filling case to grasp filling packages weighing between 8 and 25 pounds and place package on creel stand.  Must be able to reach 36" from front of weave machine to grasp ends & inspect                            .                    15% of day
  7. Bending/Stooping: Must be able to bend to reach a filing drawer 14" off the floor &     deep up to 100 times/day. Must be able to assume a prone position to                                       inspect equipment daily.      5% of day 
  8. Visual Acuity: Ability to read and understand specifications and computer screen, tie knots, and spot defects in patterns.  Ability to see tickets and written instructions, read manuals, specs, etc.      100% of day
  9. Cognitive: Alert.   Must possess the alertness, perception, and reasoning power necessary for understanding, assimilating, & decision making.  Must be able to make rational decisions based on company policies & prior                             experiences on a daily basis up to 60 times/day. 100% of day
  10. Work Environment: Ability to work in cotton dust environment.  Meet cotton pulmonary function requirements.  Must be able to hear power equipment operating in work area.  Ability to work in high noise production environment, wear approved ear protection and Steel toe or slip-resistant safety shoes.  This job operates in a manufacturing facility.   This role regularly works around moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment.  100% of day
  11. Work Environment:  Regular and predictable attendance.  100% of day
  12. Other:  Must have ability to prioritize job functions to meet goals.  Must comply with company rules, including but not limited to, safety, attendance, and other job specifications.  100% of day  

 

 

 

SHIFT/WORK HOURS

Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire and will be communicated with new hire paperwork. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands. Work hours are generally 7:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday but will require flexibility.
