POSITION OVERVIEW
The Milliken Kingsley Plant is a world class air-jet weaving operation in Thomson, Georgia. We weave fabric for end products such as duct tape, medical tape, uniforms, military, home furnishings, and industrial products.
The Control Equipment Technician supports the production departments by performing general and preventive maintenance on the electrical and mechanical systems of the location’s manufacturing, material handling, and HVAC equipment. The Engineering Services Team works on a rotating 8-hour shift.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshooting equipment using a multimeter
- Calibrating plant equipment
- Servicing electrical systems and sensors
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment
- Repair equipment malfunctions
- Disconnect electrical equipment wiring connections - ensure D.C. / A.C. motors, breakers and other equipment switches are in good working order
- Read electrical drawings and ensure electrical components of machinery are operating properly
- Perform spare parts inventory
- Perform equipment preventive maintenance
- Rigorously follow Safety and Lock Out Tag Out procedures
- Obtain/complete maintenance work orders
- Respond to emergencies identified by the shop and plant alarm system and/or plant supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires Mechanical and Electrical-based 2-year degree from accredited post-secondary school or a minimum of 24 months electro-mechanical experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ideal candidate will also be familiar with Picanol Air Jet Weave Machines. HVAC, PLC, and welding experience a plus.
SKILLS – REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to read and write and follow directions.
- Good communication skills.
- Must be self-directed and quick learner.
- Skills include knowledge of process equipment, electronics, electricity, computer logic, circuits, pneumatics, and mechanics.
- Must be able to move around job for entire shift.
MACHINES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
- Air compressors, slashing equipment, boiler, overhead cleaners, air conditioners
- Microprocessor control equipment, Computers, BARCO, Shop Order System, PC's that control all types of plant equipment and meters to measure with.
- Material handling equipment
- Multi-meters, shop orders, pen, specs for equipment, machine parts
- Steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, ear protection, LOTO equipment
- 70E Safety Equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION
- Standing: Must have the ability to stand up to 10 hours/ day patrolling his assigned area looking for problems that need repairing. 90% of day
- Sitting: Ability to sit down for hour long communications meeting. 5% of day
- Moving: Must be able to move around a 316,000 sq. ft. weaving facility with concrete floors to get to supplies, equipment, and to perform elements of job. 90% of day
- Lifting: Must be able to lift small motors and machine parts weighing up to 40 lbs. 10% frequently daily
- Ascending/Descending/Working at Height: Must be able to step up and down off ladders up to 40 feet high. Must be able to climb stairs and railing to reach all equipment. Must be able to work at heights of up to 40 ft from a scissor lift or boom truck. 20% of day
- Reaching: Must be able to reach 48" to grasp parts on machines weighing up to 25 pounds daily. Must be able to lift and lower object 29 “overhead. Must be able to lift and lower object to the floor. 75% frequently daily
- Bending/Stooping: Must be able to stoop to effect repairs to plant machines. Must be able to stoop at electrical panels to repair. 30% frequently daily
- Visual Acuity: Ability to spot defects on any plant problem and read and understand computer screen and any written instructions and manuals. 40% frequently daily
- Work Environment: Ability to work in cotton dust environment. Meet cotton pulmonary function requirements. Must be able to hear power equipment operating in work area. Ability to work in high noise production environment, wear approved ear protection and slip resistant shoes. This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This role regularly works around moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment. 100% of day
- Work Environment: Regular and predictable attendance on assigned rotating shift schedule. 100% of day
- Other: Must have ability to prioritize job functions to maximize production. Must comply with company rules, including but not limited to, safety, attendance, and other job specifications. 100% of day
SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:
Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands. The CET works on a rotating shift.
- 1st Shift: 9 AM – 5 PM
- 2nd Shift: 10 PM – 6 AM (Midnight)
