JOB TITLE:              VOH (Variable Overhead) Supervisor

REPORTS TO:         Department Manager



  1. Lead associates and effectively perform and communicate any instructions given by the Area manager using basic written and communication (verbal) abilities.
  2. Follow all safety rules, perform safety audits, and report all safety incidents to area manager immediately.
  3. Must be able to see clearly and pass pre-employment drug screening.




  1. Ability to operate dispense drive systems, ADP, Enablon, and AMMS. 
  2. Computer skills including but not limited to: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MES.
  3. SAP (Tablet use as required) skills including but not limited to: ZOYPR, COOIS, Zordstat, ZPLANTPROD, and ZCO11N. 
  4. Review and correction of all errors in SAP and MES
  5. Effective knowledge of the processes including chemical uses, interactions and tenter dye processing
  6. Knowledge of trouble shooting techniques and ability to correct safety, quality, and machinery issues in area.
  7. Communicate with peers using basic written, verbal, computer skills as necessary
  8. Demonstrated ability to lead and foster teamwork on the machine and provide leadership in the absence of the area leader.
  9. Comprehend written and verbal instructions. Perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply and divide)
  10. Read lot sheets and input proper chemical formulations
  11. Visual acuity to determine acceptability of fabric quality in compliance with Quality standards
  12. Pass color eye test and Farnsworth Munsell Shade Test
  13. Mechanical / Electrical trouble shooting skills
  14. PIV / Tugger certification and operation
  15. Strong Self-Motivation and Self Discipline skills.

  1. Ensure safety, health, and wellbeing of all associates in department
  2. Safe and effective leadership of department areas while meeting all Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Financial goals
  3. Understand and effectively implement organization policies and procedures
  4. CSD certified as VOH Supervisor in department.
  5. Effective completion of additional duties as assigned by department manager, including investigations, presentations and committee leadership.
  6. Effective delegation of tasks, follow-up, and reporting of non-conforming conditions and performance


  1. Actively lead department by example  
  2. Inspect department for safety hazards, enforce safety rules, and work to improve the overall safety process of the department
  3. Implement corporate safety initiatives
  4. Knowledge, practice and leadership of all general plant safety rules, PPE usage/care and documentation.
  5. Investigate, document, and report all incidents, near misses, and accidents using Enablon and required tools.
  6. Demonstrate leadership on LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) requirements and demonstrate ability to train on LOTO procedures.
  7. Train associates and audit compliance of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for all nonstandard tasks and risk assessments
  8. Facilitate root cause identification and implement countermeasures to address issues
  9. Demonstrate Safety Committee leadership.                                      
  10. Ensure all safety devices are in place (i.e. guards, chains, E-Stops, etc.). Audit as required.
  1. Lead, audit and sustain Safety Program, 5S (General Housekeeping), DMS and DTM activities as assigned, including coordination of general cleanliness of preparation and finishing areas.
  2. Lead and perform regular periodic mechanical / electrical machine audits and report findings      
  3. Knowledge and understanding of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements and spill kit procedures
  4. Knowledge and understanding of Powered equipment safety and operational requirements.          


  1. Take corrective action if physical defect becomes excessive (>100 yds).
  2. Perform chemical titrations, PH, and residual peroxide checks as required for trouble shooting process
  3. Patrol area for quality issues, review quality issues with associates, and make quality decisions.
  4. Determine proper reprocess criteria and procedures.
  5. Read and understand the required mix on the PO sheet and determine correct formulations.
  6. Adhere to the Specification requirements, Audit / Review specification reports, make corrections and alert appropriate managers when deviation issues occur. Follow appropriate deviation procedures.
  7. Analyze process deviations that may affect normal machine quality and performance parameters using core cause analysis (5-why, DTM, DMS, etc.)         
  8. Demonstrate leadership and adherence to ISO requirements.
  9. Ensure fabric guides and all other range elements are working properly and are clear of lint and/or other contamination build up. Lead, perform, and verify proper machine thread ups.
  10. Monitor incoming fabric for potential quality issues.  Ensure proper scrap and reporting procedures are utilized
  11. Perform and document machine and New Product Development trials.
  1. Lead effective start-up, shut-down, and cleaning activities including documentation                     


  1. Lead team in meeting production goals while also maintaining a safe and quality focused environment as set by the Production Manager.
  2. Effective communication of safety, quality, and productivity goals as well as area status.


  1. Ensure all forms, documents and computer inputs are properly completed (including downtime and production).
  2. Conduct effective DMS meetings (Safety, Quality, Productivity, Action items, Red Dot Green Dot) including updates of boards and appropriate documentation.
  3. Fill in for area manager when necessary and foster a productive team environment.
  4. File appropriate paperwork.
  5. Troubleshoot and communicate all performance / maintenance issues that could potentially cause off quality product, downtime or unsafe work environment to Engineering Services, Area Manager, PI or PIA.
  6. At shift change, communicate any opportunities to oncoming range team. 
  7. Lead / audit all breakdown / breakout activities and assignments as required. File appropriate documentation. This includes 5-why and other analysis tools.
  8. Lead weekly cleaning, shutdown and start-up duties. File appropriate documentation.
  9. Lead / audit Daily Team maintenance (DTM) including but not limited to tagging, cleaning, changing filters etc.
  10. Certified as an On-The-Job Trainer (OJT) and assist in training new associates
  1. Communicate and track relevant organizational updates with associates
  2. Run production positions as needed
  3. Daily review of associate attendance including documentation and advise area manager / HR on attendance issues
  4. Document disciplinary actions and make recommendations as required by organizational policies and procedures
  5. Must actively serve on a safety subcommittee, attend required meetings, and participate in audits and projects.
  6. Must support the Focused Improvement (FI) initiative with active participation in department projects and FI meetings




  1. BA Degree in Management, Engineering, Chemistry or related field preferred
  2. Related management experience preferred
  3. Two (2) plus years’ experience in a supervisory role required
