JOB TITLE:              General Machine Operator

REPORTS TO:         Department VOH Supervisor and Department Manager


  1. Understand and follow all general plant safety rules
  2. Follow all LOTO requirements
  3. Perform daily housekeeping
  4. Read Safety Data Sheets and perform spill / cleaning / disposal / container labeling procedures for each chemical.
  5. Must be able to adhere to the SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) requirements                  
  6. Look for process deviations that may affect normal responsibilities           
  7. Monitor incoming fabric for flags and potential weak or defective fabric for removal              
  8. At shift change, communicate any opportunities to oncoming range team.                                        
  9. Patrol exit end of the range for quality opportunities such as turned selvedge creases, stains, streaks, or addition

physical defects. Notify supervisor and take corrective action if the defect becomes excessive (>100 yds).

  1. Know the proper time, temperature and process specifications and understand basic trouble shooting root cause analysis. Understand processes, fabric types and characteristics
  2. Maintain Strict Specification adherence (100% audits). Fill out required specification audits. Correct / immediately report all out of tolerance machine parameters properly
  3. Quality defect recognition / troubleshooting and reporting procedures for all defects including: physical, chemical, bias and seam quality. Monitor for flags and potential weak or defective fabric.
  4. Access, document and report machinery maintenance / cleaning opportunities using red tags, reports and action register
  5. Demonstrated ability to perform LOTO level 2 training and annual certifications
  6. Analyze process deviations affecting quality and machine performance using core cause analysis (5-Why etc.)
  7. Ensure all safety devices are in place (i.e. guards, chains, etc).           
  8. Ensure fabric guides are working properly and are clear of lint build up                      
  9. Ensure all air hoses and water hoses are rolled up and out of the floor.
  10. Pick up any loose trash and dispose of properly.
  11. Perform all required downtime duties.          
  12. Assist in cleaning the range during weekly, scheduled, or unscheduled shutdowns
  13. Assist lead operator in all start-ups, shutdowns, breakouts, and other opportunities that may occur.
  14. Report any mechanical/electrical opportunities to Engineering Services, Supervisor, Production Manager, PI or PIA.
  15. Fill out any required paperwork and forms
  16. Perform daily safety audits (including safety devices, pinch points, Emergency stops, etc.) and report to VOH / Team Leader
  17. Perform / audit 5S, DMS, DTM activities and general housekeeping:
    1. Area eye wash stations
    2. Platforms / Range and floor
    3. Administrative and Titration areas
    4. Hoses, tools, measurement devices




  1. Ability to read and write and follow directions
  2. Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
  3. Operate MES, SPEC, MOD, SAP, drive systems and reporting

  1. Must be 17 years of age or older
  2. Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  3. Follow any instructions given by the Supervisor, Production Manager, PI, or PIA.
  4. Follow all safety rules, report all safety incidents, regardless of how slight, to manager immediately.
  5. Be at the job on time, attendance is mandatory

  6. Push/Pull/Reach:      Ability to push/pull fabric rolls, A-frames (approx. 1,500 lb)                  50% of day
  7. Bending:                     Ability to pick up objects from the floor                                                            25% of day
  8. Walking:                    Ability to walk through out the plant on concrete surface                                  20% of day
  9. Work Environment: Ability to work in manufacturing environment including:

                                                Temperatures in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit and                                                                                                            Humidity level in excess of 98%                                                             100% of day

Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands.

  • 1st Shift : 8 AM – 4 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 4 PM – 12 AM (Midnight)
  • 3rd Shift: 12 AM (Midnight) - 8 AM
