JOB TITLE:              Warper Support Yarn Changer/ Back Transport           

 

REPORTS TO:         Warping Production Manager

 

PURPOSE:               

To safely and efficiently load the creels with yarn through following set specifications.  To safely and efficiently empty creels.  To safely and efficiently transport waste and dunnage (packaging materials) to designated areas.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:        

  1. Load creels with packs of  yarn
  2. Inspect yarn packs and creels, meeting set specification requirements.
  3. Unpack yarn and load on creel trucks
  4. Strip creels of tubes and skinners
  5. Package waste and dunnage
  6. Transport waste and dunnage
  7. Keep creels clean

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to work safely
  2. Ability to read and write and follow directions
  3. Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
  4. Ability to understand and follow warper support yarn changer/ back transporter standard work procedures
  5. Ability to identify and classify defects by combination of visually inspecting and touching yarn.
  6. Ability to pass warper support yarn changer/ back transport tests and become certified by consistently performing standard work as required.
  7. Ability to lift 10-20 pound packs of yarn
  8. Ability to use manual pallet jack
  9. Ability to work as a team.
  10. Good communication skills

 

 

MACHINES, TOOLS, MATERIALS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Creel, Yarn, Push Trucks, Pallet Jack, Plastic Strapping, Cardboard Boxes, Pen, Marker, Gloves

 

AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME:  8 Weeks

Ability to stand loading creels, unloading yarn, strapping waste

Move freely throughout the warper department, including walking in the creels and the back staging area

Ability to lift yarn packs 10-20 pounds

Use a broom and dust pan.  Push yarn trucks

Ability to push a manual pallet truck

  1. Reach:

Ability to reach yarn above head. Ability to reach empty packs and skinners above head

  1. Bending:  

Ability to pick up objects from the floor. Ability to bend to ground to hang yarn.  Ability to bend over when unpacking cases of yarn

  1. Access

The ability to use step ladders (one, two and three steps.)  The ability to ascend and descend catwalks.

  1. Walking

Ability to walk through the plant to get to work station, meeting rooms, break area, and to perform audits.

  1. Visual Acuity:

Ability to see tiny defects in yarn.  Perform thorough visual inspection of yarn and yarn shed.  Identify large and small defects and correct or document.

Ability to work around polyester, nylon and acetate

Ability to work in a conditioned indoor environment where temperature varies with the weather.
