POSITION TITLE
Technical Associate, Microbiology Lab
This hourly position is part of Milliken Chemicals Manufacturing. The position provides technical support for the development of new products and applications as well as manufacturing support for current products. The position is located at our corporate headquarters in Spartanburg, SC and reports to the Division Microbiologist. Hours of work are typically Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with some flex time and occasional travel.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
▪ Perform routine and non-routine microbiological assays
▪ Perform routine environmental and product sampling at manufacturing sites
▪ Develop and validate assays and equipment
▪ Develop experimental lab test methods that simulate and predict actual field performance
▪ Understand cause and effect in experimental design
▪ Perform specialized testing on raw materials, medical devices, and non-sterile products using compendial methods
▪ Maintain clean and safe work environments
▪ Work effectively with members of a team to achieve project targets and deadlines
▪ Participate fully in the safety process
▪ Organize and effectively communicate results and new ideas (presentations, tables, charts)
QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED
▪ Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biology, and other closely related sciences
▪ 1+ years or more experience in a laboratory setting performing complex testing; assay development or performing routine techniques in a molecular biology laboratory, QC laboratory, or performing other similar functions under the direction of a laboratory manager
▪ Ability to understand and follow directions
▪ Proficient in scientific methods, critical thinking, and problem solving
▪ Ability to follow instructions as well as to work independently
▪ Strong verbal and written communications skills as well as organizational skills
▪ Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
