POSITION OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll Tax Analyst to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, maintaining accurate records, and supporting smooth payroll operations across the organization. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process payroll tax deposits on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis 

• Accurately and timely file payroll-related tax returns across federal, state, and local jurisdictions 

• Prepare and submit quarterly unemployment filings and payments 

• Respond promptly to inquiries from internal teams and external agencies, including tax authorities 

• Reconcile payroll tax-related general ledger accounts 

• Process payroll as needed, including auditing results and managing post-payroll activities 

• Assist with benefits-related tasks, such as entering payments into Northern Trust and other benefit functions 

• Contribute to improving payroll tax processes within SAP and BSI systems 

• Research and setup state and local tax jurisdictions for multi-state operations 

• Participate in testing and validation of software updates affecting tax withholding and reporting 

• Serve as a backup for international payroll responsibilities 

• Perform other duties as assigned to support the payroll and tax functions 

 

QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience) 

• 3+ years of experience in payroll tax 

• Strong understanding of federal and multi-state payroll tax regulations (FICA, FUTA, SUTA, etc.) 

• Experience with payroll software, time systems and tax software (e.g., SAP, Workforce, EFTPS Batch Software) 

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills 

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines 

• Experience with multi-state payroll tax filings 

• Familiarity with year-end tax processes and reporting
