POSITION TITLE 

Network Engineer

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a member of the Network team, associate will work with a wide array of network platforms and technologies that augment or directly provide critical business functions.  Network technologies include LAN, WAN, SDWAN, Wireless, Firewalls, and VPN.  The associate will work closely with the Security team to continue network segmentation of Office (IT) and Process Control (OT) networks to provide a secure perimeter for production systems, while still allowing engineers access to key data for continued process improvement. As a member of the Milliken Network team, the associate will work to facilitate digital initiatives by providing secure and flexible network infrastructure.  In addition to working with immediate teammates and other IT teams, the associate will often be interacting with business areas within Milliken and vendors that provide key solutions.   

 

The associate will report to the IT Manager of the Network Team. Travel requirements are minimal but may be occasionally necessary to provide on-site collaboration for projects and training.  Night and weekend work is occasionally required for maintenance to minimize user impact.  The associate will participate in an on-call rotation to provide off-hours support for critical systems. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade LAN/WAN/ Wireless/Firewall/VPN technologies 
  • Work closely with plant engineers, data security, and other IT teams to facilitate application solutions, ensure a secure network infrastructure, and provide global network access 
  • Work independently and as a member of a team based on project needs 
  • Actively participate in system design, as well as develop formal system tests, change management, and installation processes 
  • Research and propose new solutions and improvements in their areas of responsibility 
  • Harden and secure platforms from potential threats, both internal and external 

 

QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work across multiple business and IT teams 
  • Excellent technical writing and system documentation skills  
  • Good oral and written communications skills, initiative, and assertiveness

 

QUALIFICATIONS – PREFERRED

  • Ability to use scripting/coding to facilitate Network monitoring and management 
  • Knowledge of Meraki and Palo Alto platforms 
  • Knowledge of Azure network integration and management
