POSITION TITLE

Laboratory Technician, Plastic Additives

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

This role supports the Polymer Additives Business within Milliken Chemicals. Located at our Spartanburg, SC headquarters, the position involves chemical laboratory support for new product development and existing product support. Typical hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with some flexibility.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with R&D and analytical teams: submit requests, analyze data, and interpret results.
  • Develop prototypes, maintain detailed records, and organize samples.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environments; participate fully in the safety process
  • Work effectively with members of a team to achieve project targets and deadlines
  • Organize and communicate results through reports, tables, and charts

 

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • BS or MS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science or related technical field or 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in a chemical laboratory setting, including handling and mixing chemicals, documenting experiments, and operating analytical equipment
  • Proficiency in the scientific method, critical thinking, and problem-solving
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

 

The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:

  • Hands-on laboratory work
  • Experience in the organization, processing, and analysis of complex data
  • Background in polymer science or the plastics industry
