Textile Division

Milliken’s Textile Division operates in a wide variety of markets including uniform apparel, napery, interior fabrics, active wear apparel, reinforcing fabrics, military fabrics, and airbags. Rapid Prototype Center

The Milliken Rapid Prototype Center is a full-service manufacturing facility producing innovative fabrics on a prototype scale for current, newly identified, or prospective markets.

 

Job Summary

The Prototype Laboratory Technician will report to the Research Manager and will support all aspects of fabric formation and yarn production, including troubleshooting and maintenance. The Prototype Laboratory Technician will work in a team environment and will offer technical advice to development and research engineers. Highly motivated applicants will have the opportunity to cross-train in multiple technologies with the ability to expand into textile finishing. The position is for first shift/40 hours per week with a flexible work schedule Monday-Friday.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Laboratory Technician will include:

  • Running prototype lab equipment including weaving, knitting, yarn, sliver, and warping machines.
  • Perform machine and accessories maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machine mechanical breakdowns.
  • Document process parameters.
  • Participate in location Safety Program.

 

Qualifications-Required:

  • High school diploma with relevant work experience or technical degree, preferably in electromechanical or maintenance.
  • Computer skills related to data entry and tracking (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and open-minded individual who is capable of accomplishing tasks and projects in a limited supervision environment.
  • Able to move around to multiple job stations and operate basic tools as needed during an 8-hour day.
  • Excellent problem solving, mechanical, math, and communication skills.

 

Highly qualified candidates will have the following additional attributes:

  • Experience with yarn and/or fabric formation.
  • Experience with textiles.
  • Fabrication experience
