POSITION TITLE  

Lab Technician, Fine Chemicals 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW 

This position is part of Milliken’s Fine Chemicals Business. The position provides technical support for the development of new products and support of current products. The position is located at our corporate headquarters in Spartanburg, SC. Hours of work are typically Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.  

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform reactions and chemical synthesis 

  • Perform purification/isolation and analytical characterization 

  • Perform testing and chemical analysis on samples 

  • Document experimental procedures, results and observations 

  • Maintain clean and safe work environments 

  • Participate fully in the safety process 

  • Work effectively with members of a team to achieve project targets and deadlines 

  • Organize and effectively communicate results and new ideas (presentations, tables, charts) 

  • Use of scientific method and critical thinking/problem solving 

 

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED 

  • Bachelor’s in Chemistry or related technical field

  • Strong chemical synthesis experience, aptitude, or training 

  • Experience working in a chemical laboratory setting; including safely handling and mixing chemicals, documenting experiments, and operating scientific equipment 

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
