POSITION TITLE
Global Trade Compliance Manager
The Global Trade Compliance Specialist is part of the team that ensures Milliken’s compliance with all applicable import and export regulations in the various jurisdictions in which we operate. This associate will report to the Director of Global Trade Compliance and will be a member of the Sustainability, Government and Trade group. This associate will provide significant expertise, guidance, and support at all levels across the organization, including executive leadership. This associate must be a self-motivated, quick study who can perform the functions listed below.
This location will be located in Spartanburg, SC and does qualify for a hybrid weekly work schedule.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support cross-border supply chain projects
- Support global trade operations, including Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification, duty and tariff tracking, duty recovery programs, competitive analysis, and export control compliance.
- Work on trade compliance issues supporting import, export, and strategic initiatives
- Conduct research on import requirements, customs issues, regulatory measures, and trade policy issues of interest
- Develop a thorough understanding of Trade Compliance factors and conditions that impact our processes and products
- Work with team to ensure all projects and daily workload are being completed and escalated as needed
- Support the Trade Compliance Manager in development and implementation of the company’s Global Trade Compliance Program and documented procedures
- Perform risk-based analysis of company’s trade activities to help identify areas requiring risk mitigation
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure cross-functional teams are knowledgeable about current trade regulations and best practices
- Analyze problems and implement solutions using critical thinking skills and focused improvement methods
- Develop and drive improvements that help support auditing and reporting capabilities
- Coordinate with cross functional teams to develop and share best practices across the business units for global consistency
- Monitor and update monthly KPI performance thresholds
- Coordinate with external consultants and service providers as needed
QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3-5 years of experience.
- Experience with Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize own tasks
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and communicate with other internal departments
- Work to a high level of accuracy and professionalism
- Able to deal with uncertainty and make decisions based on best available information
The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:
- Auditing Experience
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Experience in leading large projects with tight timelines
- Experience with SAP
- Ability to read and understand government regulations
- Ability to travel as needed (domestic & international)
- Excellent IT skills, demonstrating a strong desire to “self-service” and learn new systems, rather than relying on others to extract data
