POSITION TITLE
Engineering Services Intern
POSITION OVERVIEW
This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting real business priorities within Engineering Services, with a focus on maintenance engineering for Milliken’s corporate facility. The intern will contribute to meaningful projects related to facility reliability, equipment performance, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and process improvement while collaborating with Engineering Services team members and cross-functional stakeholders. This role is designed to provide practical experience in a fast-paced corporate facilities environment while building foundational capabilities in problem solving, communication, technical analysis, and teamwork.
This internship is a full-time (40 hours/week), paid position that is 11–12 weeks in length during the summer of 2027, located at our Corporate Headquarters facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Support day-to-day Engineering Services activities and maintenance engineering projects for the corporate facility

Assist with preventive maintenance planning, equipment reliability reviews, and facility systems documentation

Support efforts to restart and revitalize the facility energy management system by mining energy data, developing reports, creating maintenance checks and tasks, and recommending finer energy use controls

Identify and propose potential capital projects to support future energy efficiency, reliability, and facility improvement opportunities

Mine MaintainX CMMS data to refine work plans, schedules, preventive maintenance frequencies, and task details that support more effective maintenance execution

Analyze CMMS trends to identify frequent equipment failure modes, recurring maintenance issues, and opportunities to improve reliability and asset performance

Conduct data review, field observations, and basic technical analysis to support maintenance and facility improvement decisions

Assist in developing reports, presentations, standard work, or process documentation related to facility operations and maintenance practices

Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, operations, safety, and other stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and support project execution

Identify opportunities to improve reliability, safety, efficiency, documentation, or maintenance processes

Present project findings, recommendations, or results to Engineering Services leadership and key stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

Candidates with or working toward a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or a related engineering discipline

Strong user of Microsoft Office suite of products, with proficiency in Excel for data review, tracking, and basic analysis

Interest in maintenance engineering, facility systems, equipment reliability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement

Detail oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
QUALIFICATIONS – PREFERRED

Exposure to facilities maintenance, preventive maintenance systems, CMMS tools, AutoCAD, mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, utilities, or reliability concepts

Prior internship, co-op, project, or hands-on experience in engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, facilities, or technical problem solving
