POSITION TITLE

Director of Pricing, Chemical Division

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Our growing specialty chemicals company is seeking a talented and experienced Pricing Director to lead our pricing strategy and execution across all product lines and markets. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring we maximize profitability, optimize customer value, and fuel our ambitious growth plans. This person will report directly to our VP of Marketing and will be based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Spartanburg, SC.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the creation and maintenance of robust pricing models and processes that account for cost variability, competitor dynamics, customer behavior, and market fluctuations.
  • Advance the responsiveness of pricing to changing conditions and improve the accuracy and speed of developing pricing.
  • Implement and manage pricing software and tools to drive efficiency and effectiveness. Oversee the pricing data infrastructure and processes, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting.
  • Incorporate data from Salesforce tech stack and SAP to provide insights for optimizing price and revenue generation.
  • Develop and monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance, including all areas of revenue and discount waterfall.
  • Be responsible for leading the adoption of best practice pricing strategies, tools, and processes to provide strategic insights to cross-functional groups.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, sales, finance, and operations to develop and execute pricing initiatives, including contract standardization.
  • Manage pricing risks and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the pricing function, identifying and implementing best practices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in pricing with a proven track record of success in a B2B or industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, pricing tools such as PriceFx, and Salesforce tech stack. Knowledge of revenue intelligence platforms such as 6Sense and Zoominfo.
  • Previous experience in implementing a process or system within an organization.

 

  • In-depth knowledge of pricing strategies, tactics, and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, including data modeling and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to lead through influence, working alongside organizational leadership (Sales, Finance, Marketing, Product Management, and Executive Team).
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, able to effectively communicate complex pricing concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, able to motivate and guide a team of pricing professionals.

 

The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:

  • Strong understanding of the specialty chemicals industry and its pricing dynamics.
  • Master’s degree in economics, finance, or related field.
  • SAP
