POSITION TITLE

Data Engineering Lead

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Milliken is in search of a Data Engineering Lead to join our team! This position is located at our global headquarters in Spartanburg, SC in the IT Department reporting to the IT Data and Analytics Manager. The Data Engineering Lead will work closely with the IT Data and Analytics Manager to help determine strategy and direction for the Analytics team and execute the strategy. The position includes management of the Data Engineer Team to grow their skills and provide value to the company as a team. Building successful working relationships across other IT technical, security, development, and business analyst teams is essential to the role. A Hybrid Work schedule includes 3 days on site at the Milliken global headquarters and 2 days of remote work is defined for this position.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead and manage the Data Engineering Team

 

· Architect, own and manage the Datawarehouse ensuring data quality, integrity and efficiency

 

· Design and implement ETL processes for accurate and timely data ingestion

 

· Stay proactive with data technologies and trends, implementing innovative solutions

 

· Maintain a depth of technical knowledge to support current and future data engineering needs

 

· Present complex ideas, anticipate potential objections, and persuade others to consider your point of view

 

· Ownership of ensuring best practices are defined and followed through the landscape

 

· Engage regularly with developers to share knowledge, build synergy, and help with development challenges

 

· Build the productivity of the team by coaching developers in their career paths and technical skills

 

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine solutions to meet time and budget parameters while satisfying end user requirements

 

· Actively participate in all team Agile ceremonies

 

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, influencers, and product owners to drive awareness and adoption of new concepts

 

· Provide leadership to team by defining development processes and standards

 

· Validate that all development work is done to specification, development best practices, and standards

 

· Assist with the administrative activities of the department including interviewing job candidates, approval of expenses/time, and vendor support

 

· Provide on-call support schedule with team for all supported software systems as required for a 24/7 global manufacturing company

 

· Develop test plans and conduct unit, system, integration, and functional test

 

QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED

· BS in Computer Science or 5 years equivalent work experience

 

· Minimum of 7 years developing BI solutions in an enterprise IT environment

 

· At least 2-3 years of leadership experience as a senior developer or development lead

 

· Expertise in BI concepts (i.e. ETL, dimensional modeling, data warehouse design)

 

· Efficacy in researching, analyzing, and determining the best fit processes/solutions

 

· A bias for executing practical and simple solutions

 

QUALIFICATIONS – PREFERRED

· Proficiency in SAP BW/4HANA or SAP Datasphere

 

· Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Data Lakes, Lakehouses, ETL, DevOps, SQL and Power BI

 

· Proven experience working with Microsoft Fabric, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and related services

 

· Experience with lakehouse architecture principles, including the integration of data lakes and data warehouses for unified data storage, management and analytics

 

· Certified Scrum Developer or equivalent experience developing in the Agile SCRUM framework

 

· Maintenance and usage of Jira in previous software development roles
