POSITION TITLE

Intern – Corporate Safety Summer 2024

 

POSTION OVERVIEW

The Milliken Co-op position gives rising university juniors or seniors an opportunity to work on a significant process improvement project in a manufacturing environment.  This position is located at the    Milliken Headquarters in Spartanburg, SC.  You will report directly to the Corporate Safety systems engineer.  The position is hourly paid.  The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.  This position will require some travel to various plant locations when working on assigned improvement projects.The program begins in June and could go thru the Fall.  This position will require some travel to various plant locations to assist in the roll out of the Company’s EHS Management system.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a Corporate EHS related project
  • Learn a new EHS software system and be able to configure the system to support plant and Corporate needs. 
  • Determine solutions using continuous improvement techniques
  • Demonstrate creative thinking by identifying unique approaches to problem solving
  • Communicate effectively one-to-one and one-to-a-group – educate plant associates on using a new software system. \
  • Work effectively with a diverse group of people to implement project improvements.

 

QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED

  • Rising junior or senior at a university 
  • Working towards a BS degree

 

CAPABILITIES – PREFERRED 

  • Electrical/Computer, Mechanical engineering major – others considered
  • Efficient in PowerPoint, Excel spreadsheets and SharePoint
  • GPA – 3.0 minimum
