<span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">POSITION OVERVIEW

<span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Coating Chemist will work as a member of the technical team to develop new coating chemistries for Milliken's Airbag Business.  Candidates must be able to work with/and cross-functional groups (development, manufacturing and customers) to develop and promote product or technology introductions. This position can be based in the manufacturing facility in LaGrange, Georgia, or Milliken’s Corporate headquarters in Spartanburg, SC with up to 30% travel to LaGrange, Georgia, as needed.

<span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Develop next generation non-solvent based coating chemistries for side curtain airbags and flat fabrics.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Will be expected to work as a project leader in specific next generation chemistry development projects
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Will be expected to work as a part of the airbag development team and see through commercialization of the developed formulations in both internal and external (customer) manufacturing plants.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Fast paced chemistry development with commercialization in less than 16 months requires strong skills in polymer development and formulations.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Must be comfortable in handling multiple chemistry development projects simultaneously and work with chemist from major chemical manufacturers
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Must be highly creative and self-starter with strong written and oral communications skills
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">This position can be based in the manufacturing facility in LaGrange, Georgia, or Milliken’s Corporate headquarters in Spartanburg, SC with up to 30% travel to LaGrange, Georgia, as needed.

 

<span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Chemistry or related field
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field preferred  
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Minimum of 5 years’ experience in basic or applied research or product development (combined academia and industrial) and some level of expertise in polymer chemistry or material science
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Trebuchet MS",sans-serif">Must possess strong technical skills in development & compounding of chemistries, interpersonal skills and be comfortable interacting with a wide variety of technical and non-technical staff
