Regulatory Senior Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Regulatory Senior Manager position is within our global Product Stewardship/Regulatory team. This position is located at our Corporate Headquarters in Spartanburg, South Carolina, which maintains a hybrid work-from-home policy, but can be remote if relocation is required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic regulatory leadership by developing and executing regulatory strategies, advising R&D and the business on regulatory risk, product feasibility, and long-term innovation.
- Monitor and anticipate global regulatory trends, proactively communicating impacts to R&D and leadership to guide research direction, reformulation, and portfolio decisions.
- Partner with R&D and cross functional teams to enable innovation through early regulatory insight, practical guidance, and risk mitigation to reduce late stage rework.
- Embed regulatory input into R&D governance and stage gate processes, informing prioritization, investment, commercialization risk, and global market access.
- Evaluate and qualify new raw materials and technologies, assessing global regulatory status, safety, compliance obligations (e.g., TSCA, REACH), and alternative material strategies.
- Advise on regulatory considerations for manufacturing, including process changes, scale‑up, site selection, and impacts on existing approvals or future registrations.
- Lead product stewardship and regulatory risk assessments for materials, formulations, intermediates, and technologies, including hazard evaluation, data gaps, and use restrictions.
- Manage and support global regulatory submissions and registrations, including product components, intermediates, biologics, and enabling technologies.
- Provide regulatory leadership for agricultural products, including data generation strategies, dossier requirements, registration pathways, and biologics approvals.
- Oversee microbiological and biologics control strategies across product development and manufacturing to ensure product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as subject matter expert on chemical hazards, restricted substances, microbiological risks, biological products, and applicable oversight agencies (e.g., EPA, APHIS).
- Ensure compliance with global chemical, environmental, and agricultural regulations, including TSCA, FIFRA, CropLife principles, and industry standards.
- Manage labels, claims, SDSs, disclosures, and technical documentation, ensuring compliance, audit readiness, and accurate communication.
- Support lifecycle compliance activities, including responding to regulatory inquiries, enforcement actions, and customer compliance requests.
- Effectively communicate and advocate regulatory strategies through clear documentation, presentations, and collaboration with R&D, Operations, Sales, and Technical teams.
QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, agricultural science, or biotechnology (specialized coursework or research in biologics, crop protection, or regulatory science) and 5+ years of relevant experience. Master’s degree in microbiology, agricultural science, or biotechnology (specialized coursework or research in biologics, crop protection, or regulatory science) and 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record advising executive leadership on emerging regulatory trends, compliance risks, and business opportunities related to microbiological control and agricultural biologics.
- Experience with regulatory submissions and agency interactions under US, Brazil, LATAM and EU frameworks, including Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), EU Biocidal Products Regulation, and pesticide regulatory pathways within Brazil's tri-agency structure.
- Deep skills in SDS systems and requirements, registration, submissions, chemical hazards and restricted substance experience.
- Demonstrated management experience with US TSCA compliance, REACH regulations, agency interactions, and regulatory submissions.
- Experience managing regulatory approval processes and ongoing oversight for biologics used in agricultural applications, including integration into production systems.
- Experience advising senior leaders on compliance risks, opportunities, and business impact.
QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED
- Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems for managing regulatory data and compliance documentation.
- Certification or training in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), or similar quality assurance methodologies for product safety and regulatory compliance.
