POSITION TITLE / LOCATION

Safety Technician/ Salisbury, MA

 

POSITION REPORTS TO:

Senior Facilities and EHS Manager

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Safety Technician role will aid the Facilities EHS manager in mentoring and supporting teams through standard implementation in the plant. Core teams consist of Incident Investigation, Lock Out, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, Powered Industrial Trucks, Process Improvement projects and more. The Safety Technician will also act as the facilitator of the plants Safety and Quality Committees and will ensure all incidents are investigated utilizing root cause analysis methods. The technician will assure that all meeting minutes and Agendas are properly formatted and distributed, and all other recordkeeping requirements are met. The Safety Technician will also conduct audits and safety assessments, both scheduled and unscheduled, and maintain alignment with Milliken corporate scheduling. The Safety Technician will work with the Facilities EHS Manager to ensure all required monthly, annual and case specific trainings are completed on time.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports plant safety committee and sub committees at the direction of the Facility Manager.
  • Performs risk assessments on machinery and processes
  • Maintains an audit schedule in line with Milliken corporate requirements
  • Maintains records required by standards and Milliken EHS objectives.
  • Maintains consistently good attendance
  • Support A3 formation and follow through
  • Thorough Root Cause Analysis

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Current OSHA 30-hour card in General Industry
  • Able to read and write Spanish and English. Fluent in Spanish and English.
  • 1 year experience in the application of standards to a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong computer and communication skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in implementing policies and procedures
  • Advanced learning or experience in machine guarding
  • OSHA outreach trainer or similar endorsement or 1 year delivering safety training to an audience
  • Some exposure to environmental regulations/reporting

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong interpersonal skills required
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to function in a high paced environment

 

AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME

1 week per year

 

MACHINES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Computer
  • Various Industrial Hygiene Meters (Dosimeters, etc.) 
  • Safety Related hand tools (Guarding stick, tape measure, etc.)

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Safety Eyewear
  • Steel Toe Safety Shoes
  • Hairnet or ballcap
  • Cut resistant gloves, chemical gloves, etc. as needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT /SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION

This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud. Temperatures can be more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity level can be more than 98% for 100% of day. 

 

SHIFT/WORK HOURS

Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire and will be communicated with new hire paperwork. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands. 

  • 1st Shift: 8 AM – 5 PM Monday-Friday with some weekend OT required
  • Minimal off shift hours to accomplish monthly training sessions
