Production Team Leader


Position is considered: non-exempt


Position Reports to: Shift Supervisor

Qualifications for the Position:


A High School degree or equivalent training. A minimum of one year machine operation related experience. Ability to understand production schedules. Familiar with the operation of production machinery. Good mechanical skills. Ability to communicate at all levels. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Primary Responsibilities for this position:


Follows the written and verbal instructions of Supervisors and Managers to meet the requirements of the production schedule. Directs personnel internal to department to follow all safety and quality requirements while meeting and exceeding daily manufacturing demands. Ensure the accuracy of all manufacturing data related to production. Maintains a continual monitoring of assigned manufacturing equipment as to conformance to quality standards. Responsibility for meeting established production rates for assigned equipment. Responsible for cleanliness of work area. Responsible for minimizing scrap. Follows all safety and company policy requirements


Typical Training Period for Position:  8 weeks


Typical Duties of the Position:


  1. Directs all personnel in the matters of Safety, Quality, Production, and all other company matters
  2. Directs the requirements of assigned schedule to meet production demand.
  3. Sets up machinery based upon established specifications.
  4. Adjusts equipment to maintain proper quality standards.
  5. Directs the cleaning of production area and assigned equipment.
  6. Notifies Supervisor of any problems.
  7. Completes projects and tasks as assigned.
  8. Advises the Production Manager on issues and improvements pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  9. Insures accuracy of information.
  10. Advises Managers on issues regarding safety.
  11. Ensures the compliance of procedures to all company policies.
  12. Any other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor or other higher level managers.

  1. Production volume.
  2. Quality of product processed.
  3. Cleanliness and physical condition of the assigned area.
  4. Attendance.
  5. Timeliness of completed schedules.
  6. Attendance at required meetings.
  7. Proper completion of projects.
  8. Proper and accurate paperwork.
  9. Compliance with all safety and company regulations for assigned area of responsibility.



Specific requirements for Pay Grade Tier:


    1. Team Lead 1-
      1. Ability to set up, operate, and shut down all machinery internal to department
      2. Ability to lead and direct assigned department personnel to ensure team members are working safely and quality minded while meeting/exceeding daily production demands
      3. Train, monitor, provide performance feedback, coach, mentor and perform low performance/disciplinary measures with team members as needed
      4. Work directly with shift supervisor and planning to meet daily, weekly, monthly demand
      5. Participate in any and all continuous improvement initiatives
