PURPOSE:
JOB TITLE: Dye Jet Operator (Machine Operator – 920)
REPORTS TO: Dyeing Production Manager
PURPOSE: Support Dyeing Department by dyeing fabric production through following proper policies and procedures
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Knowledge of all general plant safety rules & safety absolutes.
2) Operate equipment in a safe manner
3) Process 1st quality cloth
4) Meet production goals set-out by department manager
5) Follow proper policies and procedures set out by department and location
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to read and write and follow directions
- Ability to verify greige doffs
- Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
- Ability to safely operate sewing machine
- Respond to constant quality opportunities
- Verification of machine specs
- Basic Math (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
- Ability to operate power tugger
- Ability to learn how to use computer system (MES/SAP)
- Good communication skills
- Strong discipline
- Load/Unload fabric
- Ability to recognize quality issues
- Ability to clean filters
- Ability to neutralize jet

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic written and communication skills
- Must be able to hear power equipment operating in work area
- Must be able to see clearly and pass pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to work rotating shifts, ranging from 8,10, 12 hours
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:
- Knowledge of dye jet operator policies and procedures
- Operation of dye jet
- Beam Dye: responsible for setting up 3 types of machines according to specification, taking measurements, and patrolling for off-quality, & mechanical opportunities.
- Completing daily team maintenance (DTM) activities
- Auditing safety items in department
AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME:
4 to 6 Weeks for 1st Certification on Futura, Gaston or Beam Dye Jets
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION
- Standing: Ability to stand while operating dye jet operator position: 95% of day
- Sitting: Ability to sit down for a meeting: 5% of day
- Moving: Ability to move throughout plant transporting fabric: 40% of day
- Lifting: Ability to lift up to 50lbs: 5% of day
- Climbing: Ability to walk up stairs, etc. 40% of day
- Push/Pull/Reach: Ability to push/pull, empty boxes, reach for documents 10% of day
- Push: Ability to push up to 40lbs of force: Pushing lifter reel to remove cloth 30% of day
- Bending: Ability to pick up objects from the floor 5% of day
- Visual Acuity: Ability to read documents, computer screens, and see defects 100% of day
9) Walking: Ability to walk around the dye jets on concrete floors 10% of day
10) Housekeeping Ability to maintain a clean and organize work area 5% of day
11) Sewing Ability to sew seams and magnets into fabric 40% of day
12) Filter Cleaning Ability to use water hose to clean filters 20% of day
13) Tighten Doors Ability to tighten doors using the tighten tool 60% of day
14) Covering Ability to cover boxes before transporting 30% of day
