Position reports to the supervisor / manager.  Duties include but are not limited to the below.  Normal scheduled hours are rotating each week 7 to 7 five to six days per week.  Candidate must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Range Specialist will be responsible for understanding the production requirements to provide 100% first quality products and 100% on-time delivery while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. A Range Specialist must be certified on all sections of the range. This includes, but is not limited to, the following for:

 

            Administrative

  1. Ensure all required paperwork correctly and effectively completed.
  2. Lead team shift meetings.
  3. Ability to use current computer software and hardware.
  4. Process designated rolls on Lot Sheet and documentation in MES.
  5. Perform any other duties assigned by the Production Manager as necessary.

           

             Production

  1. Run range while operators are on breaks or when operators are out as directed by the department manager.
  2. Handle appropriate shift change discussion as directed by the department manager, verify proper shift.

            change activity and notify Production Manager of any shift change issues.

  1. Communicate potential downtime issues with Supervisor.
  2. Range Specialist facilitates start-up, processing, shutdown, and changeovers.
  3. Ensure shift is properly manned and if necessary, run job himself or herself.
  4. Communicate if all necessary supplies are not available for the next shift (shells, hot knives, mix, paperwork, leader fabric, etc.). 
  5. Make sure the handling of fabric rolls is according to our inventory rules, and that fabric from the leader store is handled properlyproperly.
  6. Give direction to shift shop personnel.
  7. Communication of performance expectations and results with Supervisor.
  8. Develop and maintain respectful workplace.

           

              Quality

  1. Investigates and Communicates quality concerns.
  2. Perform a process audit after any start-up or style change, and facilitate appropriate communication to

            process improvement group for quality needs.

  1. Conducts audits of various types as instructed.
  2. Audit Start Up checklist, Changeover checklists, Shutdown, Weekly and Shift DTM checklists for

            completion.

  1. Monitor product quality and take appropriate action when not meeting specifications.
  2. Apply good judgement on when to involve management concerning an issue no matter the time of day or night. 
  3. Document non-conforming material.
  4. Authorize process deviations and complete proper paperwork when a deviation is made and communicate.

  1. Assist Production Managers and Process Improvement Department in resolving customer complaints.

            This includes operator training on prevention and verification issues.

  1. Can inspect fabric on exit of range according to range grading specifications and document on Inspection report.
  2. Ensure headers are transported to lab as specified on Process Specifications

           

            Safety

  1. Perform MQSP audits.  Document and correct safety issues.
  2. Handle safety and environmental incidents according to policy.
  3. Be a first responder.
  4. Facilitate emergency response procedure and communicates to appropriate management associates.
  5. Understand the environmental impacts and aspects of job related activities.  Follow established Valway and Milliken & Company guidelines concerning use of all chemicals. Comply with all Environmental regulations and Milliken Environmental Policies

           

            Training

  1. Monitor the instruction, discussion, and completion of all on the job training documents of new associate and assist if necessary.
  2. Identify when an operator should be retrained in certain areas and assist in the retraining if necessary.
  3. Must be certified on all sections of the range.
