POSITION OVERVIEW

As an R&D Professional, you will drive profitable growth by developing and applying advanced technology platforms at Encapsys. Collaborating with internal and external partners, you will troubleshoot quality issues, innovate new products while performing critical, non-routine analytical testing on raw materials, competitive, and unknown samples to support R&D and manufacturing goals

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technology applied to new and existing platforms for Encapsys. 
  • Improved results from collaboration with external research organizations, end-use customers, and key suppliers.
  • Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, R&D, and Product H&S to identify opportunities that require enabling and emerging technologies for existing product lines and processes.
  • Develop, implement and support improvement initiatives in product design, manufacturing process development and purchasing.
  • Develop and initiate collaboration with researchers and HQ Analytical Team to innovate new analytical techniques.
  • Interface with customers to resolve quality complaints, institutionalize new processes, and develop specifications to continually meet their needs.
  • Periodic travel/work at partner sites (co-locations) both domestic and international.
  • Provide support to engineering during equipment installation and startup.
  • Work with manufacturing and plant personnel to ensure a safe, high quality and efficient production environment.
  • Ensure that activities meet all environmental laws and regulations and provide insight to continually reduce our impact on the environment.
  • Provide manufacturing support on new products and processes.
  • Perform chemical analysis of products, materials or contaminates to R&D, Marketing, Sales, Technical Services, and Manufacturing for developing clarity in product development, process problems and material identification.
  • Research, identify, develop, document, validate and implement test methods across a wide array of instruments, not limited to, GC, GC/MS, LC. Collaborate with R&D Scientist and manufacturing to implement as needed.
  • Evaluate and implement internal and external customer methods to support new business development opportunities.
  • Lead and support method transfer to the Tembusu manufacturing location.
  • Support troubleshooting of all test methods.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry or other related Technical Science Degrees.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience desired.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to learn and live Six Sigma principles.
  • Ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to resolve problems and make improvements.
  • Capable of working in a flexible, often shifting, environment.
  • Skilled in techniques with advanced knowledge in repair and operation of: GC, Accusizer, Brookfield viscometers, etc.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers, management team, and work group production personnel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, project management, problem solving, creativity, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Solid understanding of scientific principles and methodology is required.
  • Proven ability to contribute in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for initial training

 

 

The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry/materials science/other scientific field.
  • Strong technical background in analytical chemistry, excellent analytical problem-solving skills with ability to independently develop and troubleshoot analytical methods.
  • Provide analytical technical support on new products and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and drive complex problem solving of analytical methods as well as participate and provide analytical testing support to product teams.  Proficient with problem solving, analysis and presentation tools.
