THIS IS A ROTATING SHIFT OF DAYS AND NIGHTS
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Warper is responsible for operating warping equipment to prepare yarn beams for weaving. This role ensures correct yarn tension, accurate threading, quality standards, and safe machine operation. The associate monitors the warping process, performs routine adjustments, and maintains documentation in alignment with Milliken production, quality, and safety expectations.
- Operate warping machines to wind multiple yarn ends onto beams according to production specifications.
- Set up machines, including creeling yarn packages, threading ends, tying knots, and verifying yarn paths.
- Monitor machine operation for correct tension, alignment, and uniformity throughout the warping process.
- Inspect yarn and beams for defects, breaks, contamination, or quality issues; correct issues promptly.
- Record production data, downtime, and quality checks accurately in plant systems.
- Perform adjustments to maintain quality (tension, speed, yarn alignment, tie‑in accuracy).
- Replace empty yarn packages and ensure the creel remains stocked and organized.
- Communicate machine malfunctions or material issues to supervisors and maintenance.
- Follow all Milliken safety policies and lockout/tagout procedures when needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including removing waste yarn and cleaning creel areas.
- Assist with beam loading/unloading, transporting beams, and staging materials as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement, 5S activities, and training initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to work a rotating shift of days and nights.
- Manufacturing or textile experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to read production instructions, quality specifications, and safety documents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn machine operation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to detect quality issues.
- Ability to follow instructions, production schedules, and safety processes.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12‑hour shifts).
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and use hands for threading, tying, and handling yarn.
- Ability to push, pull, or maneuver beams and material carts (up to X lbs with assistance if needed).
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally (yarn packages, tools, etc.).
- Ability to visually inspect yarn and beams for quality.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
WORK ENVIORNMENT
- Exposure to moving equipment, fibers, noise, and standard manufacturing conditions.
- Required use of PPE such as safety glasses, wearing of safety shoes, hearing protection, and cut‑resistant gloves when applicable.
