POSITION REPORTS TO:

Milliken Pendleton Finishing Plant Process Improvement Leader

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Milliken is seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in shade matching and textile dyeing and finishing, to lead the daily operation of a dye laboratory.  The candidate will be a technical expert in dyeing and shade technologies including the life cycle process of color development, system integration, project implementation, and application of manufacturing processes. Duties will include, but not be limited too, subject matter expertise in troubleshooting, automation, installation, building cross-functional teams, best practicing sharing and will assist in overall shade expertise for the plant.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in the plant safety and quality improvement process
  • Lead the dye lab team in the process of custom color matching for the companies’ customers to see their colors on our fabrics
  • Assist the plant with scale-up on new styles and new colors in the manufacturing process
  • Assist the plant on root cause analysis of all types of off quality, including off quality for the greige mills and yarn formation locations
  • Implementation of cost saving projects related to dyeing, including dyeing materials and inventory controls
  • Testing on incoming dyes to ensure the dyes meet the specifications on the COAs
  • Communicate with our dye and chemical supplier on ongoing and new supply disruptions
  • Serve as liaison and subject matter expert between the plant and business units, and their customers
  • Serve as technical resource to other manufacturing technologies to improve current and new performance capabilities
  • Fine tuning and validating processes
  • Tracking and improving laboratory metrics
  • Serve as a go to resource for technical shade and color development in manufacturing

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree in Engineering, Textile Technology, technical field, or AMP graduate with a minimum of 10+ years of hands-on manufacturing and color development experience with relevant textile color development experience.
  • Communication skills and ability to interface with all stakeholders in the manufacturing process including customers, sales & marketing group, and other development engineers to meet company and customer’s objectives and goals successfully and efficiently.
  • Proven leader that is highly motivated, self-driven, and open-minded individual who can accomplish tasks and projects in a limited supervision environment.
  • Experience with color measurement and color formulation systems.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-functional leader that has served in technical manufacturing roles, with concentration in Dyeing and Finishing and project management
  • Knowledge of production quality metrics
  • Experience creating technical specifications for manufacturing processes
  • Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production
  • Exposure to a wide variety of color development techniques and troubleshooting methods in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Datacolor system.

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • In depth knowledge of Safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA).
  • Advanced proficiency in Dyeing & Color development technology and equipment
  • Communication skills – verbal, written, and group presentations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical/problem-solving skills
  • Leadership skills

 

SHIFT/WORK HOURS

Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., plus occasional weekend duty (extended hours when requested)

Travel to different manufacturing locations possible.

Travel to customer locations is possible.

Travel to suppliers possible.
