HVAC Technician
SHIFT / WORK HOURS:
Monday – Friday 1st shift with ability to work overtime and other shifts as needed. Available for call -ins (emergency)
PAY LEVEL:
Based on previous work skills and/or knowledge.
REPORTS TO:
This position reports to the Utilities Engineer.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:
HVAC Technician is responsible for completing regularly scheduled tasks on HVAC equipment throughout the plant. The position includes shared ownership across all departments as assigned. In addition to scheduled PM tasks, the HVAC Technician will be required to assist in troubleshooting and solving issues with equipment plant wide as well as completing projects as assigned. Experience with both mechanical and electrical systems will be required. This position also has responsibility for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC equipment including, but not limited to HVAC units, air handlers, air washers, chillers, panel AC units, & exhaust fans. The technician must also maintain an accurate inventory of spare equipment. The tech will coordinate with contractors as needed during installations or major repairs. The tech must maintain regulatory records such as preventive maintenance and refrigerant log.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to read and write and follow directions
2. Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
3. Basic Math (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
4. Ability to operate forklift, power tugger, and Hoist
5. Ability to learn how to use computer system (MES)
6. Good communication skills
7. Strong discipline
8. Understanding and troubleshooting of electrical (AC and DC) and control systems
9. Understanding of HVAC equipment general functions
10. Troubleshooting mechanical systems
11. Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
12. Knowledge of general safety procedures including proper PPE and 70e
13. Documentation and root cause analysis (5 Why)
14. Organization of spare parts inventory
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Basic written and communication skills
2. Must be able to hear power equipment operating in work area
3. Must be able to see clearly and pass pre-employment drug screening
PPE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:
Earplugs (When working in hearing protection areas)
Steel Toe, Slip Resistant, Waterproof, Electrical Safe Boots (100 Percent of Time)
Gloves (Minimal Use)
Safety Glasses (Minimal Use)
70 E Uniforms (Used when working in a live panel over 48 V)
