JOB TITLE:                          Warp Replacement

 

JOB CLASSIFICATION:    Senior Machine Operator

 

REPORTS TO:                     Production Manager

 

PURPOSE:                            Works as part of a team to lease empty warps, tie-in and pullover new warps.  Prepare and tie-in replacement warps with minimum downtime in a quality manner. Includes lease/haul, tie-in, and smashing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1)  Knowledge of all general plant safety rules & absolutes.

2)  Operate equipment in a safe manner

3)  Meet production goals set-out by department manager

4)  Follow proper policies and procedures and job specifications set out by department and location

 

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Knowledge of Warp Replacement policies and procedures.
  2. Completing daily team maintenance (DTM) activities.
  3. Auditing safety items in department.
  4. Identify weave defects and perform basic weaving tasks (tying knots, drawing ends, etc.)
  5. Execute intermediate computer functions to locate and move batches.
  6. Lease empty warps and tie-in and pullover new warps. 

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to read, write, and follow directions
  2. Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
  3. Basic Math (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  4. Attention to Detail-thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task ensuring all aspects are reviewed.
  5. Adaptability-adapts to changes in the work environment
  6. Ability to perform basic weaving tasks
  7. Ability to properly draw in ends

AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME:

 

8 Weeks for Certification

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:                                        FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION

 

  1. Standing: Approx. 9 hours/day spent working on weaving machine or retrieving warps from storage.
  2. Sitting:  Break time (75 minutes) and 15 minutes for completion of reports.                            
  3. Moving:    Continuous from machine to machine to warp storage, etc.
  4. Lifting:     Must be able to lift warp clamps, frame clamps, whip rolls (5-60 lbs.) *
  5. Climbing:  To remove and replace pattern chain on average of 10 times/shift. Utilize foot stool which is 6 inches off the floor.
  6. Push/Pull/Reach: Pull beam out of machine (on bearings). Also push tie-in machine and pull frame continuously from machine to machine. Also must push new beam into machine (10 times/shift). Reach to clamp warps, to repair warp end breaks, and to replace leno bobbins (distance-2 to 3 feet)
  7. Bending:  To clamp new warps, to turn mechanism, to pull warp over, (10 times/shift)
  8. Visual Acuity:     Recognize quality leases, visually monitor tie-in machine performance, and recognize mis-reeds and wrong draws in fabric.
  9. Other: Must comply with the Company rules, including but not limited to Safety, Attendance, and other job specifications.                 

 

* Two associates are required for lifting items over 50lbs

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud.
