JOB TITLE:  Loom Technician

 

JOB CLASSIFICATION:  Technician

 

REPORTS TO:  Production Manager

 

PURPOSE:  Set machine to proper machine specs in order to make first quality goods.

 

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1)  Knowledge of all general plant safety rules & absolutes.

2)  Operate equipment in a safe manner.

3)  Meet production goals set-out by department manager.

4)  Follow proper policies and procedures and job specifications set out by department and location.

 

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Knowledge of technician policies and procedures
  2. Completing Daily Team Maintenance (DTM) activities
  3. Auditing safety items in the department
  4. Maintain an assigned set of weave machines
  5. Set machine to proper machine specs and ensure machines run according to style specification
  6. Diagnoses problems with assigned set of weave machines
  7. Correct mechanical issues on assigned set of weave machines
  8. Relief weave for Weavers breaks

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Ability to read, write, and follow directions
  2. Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
  3. Basic Math (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  4. Attention to Detail-Thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task ensuring all aspects are reviewed.

  6. Ability to identify and classify chronic machine problems

AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME:

8 Weeks for Certification

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION

 

Standing:  Approx. 11 hours a day spent standing while adjusting and watching performance of approximately 142 weave machines.

Sitting:  Break time (75 mins/day) and 20 mins/day completing reports              

Moving:  Approx. 2 hours/day retrieving supplies from the supply room and going to offices, meetings, and from machine to machine.

Climbing:  To replace harness cables and check machine performance approx. 15 min/day.  

Reach: To retrieve supplies from storage bins and to mount parts onto machines. Repairing warp breaks. Reach distance is approximately 3 feet.

Lifting: Must be able to lift machine parts and materials (1-40 lbs) daily.

Pushing Pulling: Must be able to push toolbox throughout the plant.  

Visual Acuity:  Must be able to see defects in fabric. Numbers on weave machines, gauges and feeler gauge.

Bending/Stooping: 50% of work on the weaving machine (checking boards, replacing parts, warp quality) requires the individual to bend and stoop.

Other: Must comply with the Company rules, including but not limited to Safety, Attendance, and other job specifications.         

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud.
