The PI Engineer is a senior technical contributor responsible for leading complex process improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operation at Beech Hill. Building on the core PI Engineer role, this position provides advanced technical expertise, strategic problem‑solving capability, and leadership across Production, Quality and Process Improvement.

 

The role plays a key part in delivering sustainable performance improvements, supporting profitable growth, and embedding continuous improvement standards across the Milliken Flooring Business Unit. The PI Engineer works with a high degree of autonomy and influences stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

 

Process Improvement:

Process Improvement & Technical Leadership

Lead complex, high‑impact process improvement initiatives aligned to global and regional strategy.

Act as a technical authority in root cause analysis for critical quality, yield and process performance issues.

Drive structured problem‑solving projects to improve process control and financial performance.

Provide coaching, guidance and technical support to PI Engineers and Technicians to build capability and consistency across the PI function.

Health, Safety & Environment:

To ensure site conformance to the Company Safety Policy and HSE legislation.

To work with the Safety coordinator in promotion of safe working practices across the site.

Proactively identify, assess and mitigate risks associated with manufacturing processes and capital projects.

 

Production/ Quality:

  1. Continually review manufacturing processes, equipment and methods to identify and implement opportunities for step‑change improvement.
  2. Ensure all process improvements are aligned with Milliken quality standards and operational excellence principles.
  3. Actively contribute to new product introduction and product re‑engineering activities, ensuring smooth and timely implementation.

Engineering & Maintenance:

  1. Ensure close cooperation with engineering to ensure efficient use of available resources and cross pollination of skills, experience and ideas.
  2. Identify potential replacement or expansion of machinery and formulate investment proposals translating into Capital Expenditure Proposals and local investment plans as appropriate.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Influence

  • Provide strong technical leadership and influence across cross‑functional teams.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Support the ongoing development of site and divisional improvement strategies through data‑driven insight and recommendations.

Financial:

  1. To apply variance and trend analysis to problem identification / root cause analysis and for budget/actual expenditure and control accordingly.
  2. Develop robust business cases and support capital approval processes using clear financial and operational justification.

 

People / Team Management:

  1. To encourage idea generation and execution by developing a “can do” culture.
  2. To maintain high standard of team working.
