PREVIOUS WEAVING EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
Position reports to the department manager / supervisor. Duties include but are not limited to the below. Normal scheduled hours are 12 to 12 five days/week rotating each week. Candidate must be available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Weaver Operator is solely responsible for operation of the weaving line. Associate operates the Weaving line maintaining Safety, Quality and Productivity goals and 5s targets for the area. Associate is measured by Safety goals, Quality Goals, Productivity goals and 5s conditions within the Cable Management area.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Weave Lines:
- Follow Plant Safety Rules.
- Follow LOTO Procedures.
- Keep machinery running by splicing in new yarn packages as needed
- Perform visual quality inspection on the machine and product running
- Perform checklists at startup and at intervals throughout the day to ensure first quality is being produced
- Ensure chemical is being applied properly to the product.
- Rethread yarn as needed at changeovers/breaks
- Record daily production through SAP and daily production logs
- Help troubleshoot stops to get machine operating again
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Help complete downtime maintenance and 5S to ensure best working conditions
- Work to help instruct and train other Candidates for this position.
- Turn in hours worked each week.
- Assist in style changes on sewing lines.
- Anything else your manager asks of you.
General Duties:
- Maintain work area keeping clean and organized according to 5s Standards
- Proper storage of supplies.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Production Manager or Senior Production Manager as needed.
- Understand the environmental impacts and aspects of job-related activities. Follow established Valway and Milliken & Company guidelines concerning use of all chemicals. Comply with all Environmental regulations and Milliken Environmental Policies and Rules.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to use computer
- Basic written and oral communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- GED or High School Diploma
- Weaving Experience
- Ability to read and write
- The ability to perform basic math calculations
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to comprehend written/verbal instruction
- Computer data entry skills
- Ability to operate a lift truck safely and efficiently
- Ability to adhere to all plant safety specifications
- Ability to work as a team member with little supervision
AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME
Up to 90 days (13 weeks – 3 weeks Demonstrated Skills)
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND MATERIALS USED:
- Cutting tools, Safety gloves, Cake Lift, Hand tools, Safety equipment, Computers, Lockout / Tagout tags, Pallet jack, weave hook, computer.
- Thread, Pull tape, Innerduct fabric, storage reels (metal, plastic, wood)
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USED:
- Ear plugs
- Steel Toe Safety Shoes
- Safety Glasses
- Safety Gloves
- Safety Scissors
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION
1. Standing: Ability to stand while working 90% of day
2. Sitting: Ability to sit down while operating mobile equipment 10% of day
3. Moving: Ability to move throughout plant: 40% of day
4. Lifting: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. 5% of day
5. Ascending/Descending: Ability to walk upstairs 5% of day
6. Push/Pull/Reach: Ability to push/pull fabric rolls and carts (approx 1500lbs) 10% of day
7. Bending: Ability to pick up objects from the floor, creel rolls, style changes 50% of day
8. Visual Acuity: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties,including reading
information from printed sources and computer screens. 100% of day
9. Cognitive: Alert. Able to make decisions, reason, and understand information. 100% of day
WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION
This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud. Temperatures can be more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity level can be more than 98% for 100% of day.
SHIFT/WORK HOURS
Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire and will be communicated with new hire paperwork. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands.
