POSITION REPORTS TO:
Position reports to the Engineering Services Department Manager.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Engineering Services Professional II will be responsible for troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems within the plant while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. The Engineering Services Professional is responsible for Safety, and Productivity requirements in the plant operations. The Engineering Services Professional II will also be responsible for training other electrical professionals. Requirement of a four-year electrical engineering degree is required.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the troubleshooting function for mechanical and electrical downtime.
- Control Equipment Technicians will report to this position.
- Included in major equipment overhauls, plant safety projects, infrastructure projects requiring internal labor.
- Engage, advise, and develop the Valway Engineering Services associates.
- Schedule Valway maintenance to maintain process and material handling equipment in world class condition.
- Review any significant Valway downtime losses and take appropriate actions to respond.
- Ensure appropriate spare part inventories are maintained to avoid significant downtime events.
- Track and document all associate performance for ES direct reports, including safety, quality, productivity, and attendance.
- Control labor costs through the management of non-straight time labor, including training pay, Gaines McArthur premium, and overtime for ES associates.
- Ensure that all ES equipment is maintained by competent associates who have been properly trained.
- Owner of ES Continuous Skills Development for direct reports. Maintain the training records of all direct reports.
- Scheduling of Valway ES and maintenance technician associates and resources in order to fulfill customer delivery requirements.
- Owner of ES Daily Team Maintenance in shop areas. Ensure that all equipment meets operating standards.
- Engage ES associates and technicians daily in a positive manner.
- Assist with the acquisition and/or the installation of new or existing equipment inside the Valway Complex within budget.
- Ensure the contractor safety program is being executed successfully.
- Oversee utilities function and work to reduce utilities cost.
- Oversee the supply cost centers and work to maintain and/or reduce supply cost.
- Ensure that Valway equipment can meet all environmental and regulatory permit requirements.
- Work with the ES Leader at Valway to assist in Plant Facilities maintenance and repair activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Four-year electrical engineering degree or 5+ years Engineering experience preferably in fabric finishing.
- Ability to use computer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION
This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud. Temperatures can be more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity level can be more than 98% for 100% of day.
SHIFT/WORK HOURS
Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire and will be communicated with new hire paperwork. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands.
- 1st Shift: 7 AM – 5 PM Monday through Saturday.
- ON CALL AS NEEDED
COMMUTE
- Candidate must be able to the plant location in LaGrange, Georgia.
