Floor Covering Division

Location: Live Oak Plant, Lagrange, Georgia 

Summary

Milliken and Company has been inventing and commercializing digital patterning systems for years and needs talented technicians to continuously innovate and maintain these systems. The Digital Print Group is looking for a technician to assist the development team at our Live Oak Plant in LaGrange, Georgia. The associate will participate in new product, process, and technology development. As a member of the global advanced development team, the team is tasked with developing new technologies and processes for the Floor Covering Division that meet cost, quality, product performance, sustainability, and other market requirements. This role provides broad collaboration with development, manufacturing, and business organizations. 

Responsibilities

  • Run tests and experiments in the development of floor covering manufacturing processes and materials
  • Capable of operating and maintaining print equipment
  • Identify persistent challenges with printing equipment and help develop and implement solutions
  • Learn all aspects of different printing equipment within Floor Covering
  • Provide clear communication of experimental design and results
  • Contribute to test method development of non-standard tests
  • Creative input to experimental designs for testing new processes and products
  • Contribute to analyses of data and results in experiments and manufacturing trials
  • Maintain excellent record keeping of projects and experiments
  • Actively participate in the Milliken Safety Process

Required Skills

  • Minimum two years of experience in a manufacturing or lab environment
  • Background in print, chemistry, materials science, engineering, or similar
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Skills

  • 2-year Technical Degree or higher from a certified institution
  • Ability to use standard computer packages for experimental design and data analysis
  • 5+ years technical experience, demonstrating scale-up of new materials, processes, or technologies
  • Familiarity with dyeing processes including printing
  • Ability to use Mechanical Design Software like Inventor or Solidworks
  • Knowledge of carpet tile manufacture, materials, properties, and processing technologies
  • Overnight travel to run manufacturing plant trials and visit vendors
  • Strong cross-functional experience
  • Certified Lift Truck Operator
