DMS Apprentice Machine Operator

The Apprentice Control Equipment Technician (CET) role at the Milliken Duncan M. Stewart facility in LaGrange, GA is an entry-level technical position designed to develop skills in industrial electrical maintenance and control systems. Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, the apprentice will work under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers to learn how to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and automated production equipment.

This role combines structured on-the-job training with hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The apprentice will progressively build competence in electrical systems, industrial controls, and safety practices while supporting plant operations and reliability goals.
Work hours are flexible while in school.

Technical Maintenance & Troubleshooting:Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems under supervision.
- Learn to troubleshoot industrial equipment including PLCs, motors, power systems, and instrumentation.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance tasks.
Installation & Equipment Support:
- Assist with installation and commissioning of production equipment.
- Learn wiring, system connections, and equipment testing.
Blueprint & Technical Documentation:
- Learn to read electrical schematics and manuals.
- Document maintenance activities accurately.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout and PPE.
- Reinstall guards and safety devices after maintenance.
- Participate in Milliken Safety Process.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work with technicians, engineers, and production teams.
- Communicate equipment issues effectively.
Preventive Maintenance & Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in scheduled maintenance routines.
- Support reliability and efficiency improvements.- Enrollment in or completion of a technical program or apprenticeship in an electrical or related field.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.- Troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Understanding of electrical and control systems
- Communication and teamwork
- Time management in a fast-paced environment- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in industrial conditions
- Willingness to operate motorized equipment- On-the-job training
- Exposure to advanced manufacturing systems
- Pathway to full CET role
