POSITION OVERVIEW
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating a set of raschel knitting machines, knit roll weigh station and the ability to drive propane forklift. s
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regular and predictable attendance
Knit Machine Operator:
- Operates a set of raschel knitting machines.
- Patrols machines to ensure excellent quality.
- Repairs yarn breaks.
- Maintains a clean work area and observes all safety rules and procedures.
- Responsible for documenting production, quality, and safety.
- Takes sample cuts as required.
- Performs other related duties as required or directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to operate motorized equipment
- Physical requirements: lift 25lbs, push 250lbs roll of fabric on cart, pull 50lbs, work (3) 12 hour shifts with extensive standing and walking.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Manufacturing experience
- Textile knitting experience
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent hand/eye coordination
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Adaptability – adapts to changes in the work environment
- Attention to detail – thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task ensuring all aspects are reviewed
- Ability to identify and classify defects
- Willing to work overtime
- Ability to communicate effectively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION
1. Standing: Ability to stand while working 95% of day
- Sitting: Ability to sit down 5% of day
- Moving: Ability to move throughout plant: 50% of day
- Lifting: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 10% of day
- Ascending/Descending: Ability to walk upstairs, climb to top of range
(approx. 16 ft) 35% of day
- Push/Pull/Reach: Ability to push/pull fabric rolls, A-frames (approx
1500lbs) 35% of day
- Bending: Ability to pick up objects from the floor 15% of day
- Visual Acuity: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties,
including reading information from printed sources and
computer screens. 100% of day
9. Cognitive: Alert. Able to make decisions, reason, and understand
information. 100% of day
WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION
This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud. Temperatures can be more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity level can be more than 98% for 100% of day.
SHIFT/WORK HOURS
Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire and will be communicated with new hire paperwork. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands.
- 2nd Shift: 2 PM – 10 PM Monday-Friday
