SUMMARY: 

The Variable Overhead Supervisor (VOH) is responsible for department safety and leading daily production efforts to their area of responsibility by implementing improvements and supporting manning requirements to fulfill production needs.  VOH’s will work closely with the process improvement team and production management to increase productivity and strive to insure we are producing first quality products.  Level is subject to applicant experience. 

 

SHIFT: 3RD Shift (Midnight-8am) 

 

JOB DUTIES: 

  1. DAILY PRODUCTION SUPPORT  
  1. Assist in the management of the Process Reliability system, including downtime tracking and reduction. 
  1. Help address processing and quality concerns, working with shop resources, technicians, Process Engineers, and other managers, to correct and keep quality production moving. 
  1. Assist with inventory accuracy and SAP transactions. Train operators on SAP, when needed. Participate in physical inventory counts and reconciliation.  
  1. Assist with review and improvement of Production related procedures. 
  1. Assist the Production Manager with scheduling and staffing to ensure adherence to schedules and attendance policy. Including but not limited to covering vacations, absenteeism, and turnover, as well as managing overtime and budgetary needs. 
  1. Complete all payroll functions and personnel documentation needs for assigned shift and department. 
  1. Input workorders and ensure maintenance follow-up on key items. 

 

  1. PRODUCTION TRAINING  
  1. Assist with new associate development and process training plan for Production new hires. 
  1. Communicate regularly with Production new hires to assist with process skills and their adjustment to plant culture. 
  1. Identify morale issues and work with the appropriate individuals to develop action plans. 
  1. Review and understand all Production disciplinary actions and insure consistent application of HR policies. 

 

  1. SAFETY – Adhere and uphold all plant safety policies and compliance regulations.  Actively participate in the safety process through completing of safety audits, participating in safety projects, identifying Site Hazards and contributing to improvements, and being an attending member of a safety team.  Specific duties include but are not limited to: 
  1. Promote safety as a core behavior and lead by example. 
  1. Encourage production associate participation in safety processes. 
  1. Continuously seek to improve housekeeping. 
  1. Conduct safety training and help train responsible individuals when deficiencies are found by ensure associates have the adequate training necessary to safely perform their jobs and enforcing safety rules. 

 

  1. QUALITY – Understand, comply, and uphold Milliken Quality Policy, Standard Operating Procedure(s), relevant ISO standards and Company Policies that are applicable to this position. 
  1. Implement and maintain quality systems established by the Quality Manual and other quality procedures while working with process improvement team 
  1. Responsible for shift quality performance. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: Ensure procedures are followed, ensure associates are adequately trained on process or equipment, and ensure associate suggestions receive appropriate responses. 
  1. Review and make improvement suggestions for relevant procedures. 

 

Qualifications - Required: 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 
  • Leadership skills- including running safety pre-shift talks 
  • Previous textile manufacturing experience  
  • Communication skills – verbal, written, and group department presentations
