SUMMARY:

This position is located at the Limestone Plant in Gaffney, SC, and reports to the Employment Manager. The nurse also supports the Cedar Hill Plant located in Union, SC. This position is responsible for adequate administering of first aid treatment of minor injuries and/or illnesses, referral, and follow-up of those of a more serious nature, and provide occupational services, including caring of and assisting in preventing occupational injuries on site.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Conduct and coordinate health assessments and examinations as needed for:

            a. Pre-employment physicals, annual/bi-annual/compliance employment physicals, return-to-work physicals, and incidental and chronic health conditions (as the condition impacts ability to perform regular job duties)

            b. Coordinate FMLA administration, ADAA evaluation, medical leave documentation and return-to-work case management.

2. Conduct pre-employment, first-year random, post-incident and “For Cause” Substance Abuse Screening for all associates.

3. Provide coordination of care to workers with chronic health conditions and provide maintenance of care within established protocols, to assist associates and ensure work does not negatively impact the conditions.

4. Communicate with management regarding associate medical leave of absences and return to work timelines.

5. Manage all aspects of the Limestone/Cedar Hill location health clinic, including ordering supplies, ensuring current equipment calibrations, and ensuring proper disposal of expired supplies.

6. Administer flu vaccinations and other vaccinations as needed and approved by the Company Physician.

7. Maintain and manage confidential medical records.

8. Maintain certifications and knowledge of occupational health practices, including CPR/First Aid/AED instructor certification and audiometry testing/hearing conservation certification.

9. Participate on and advise site Medical Emergency Response Team. Respond to medical emergencies and assist in caring for the injured, including decontamination, post-incident evaluation and transport to medical facilities if needed.

10. Conduct training classes with site associates in topics including CPR/First Aid/AED, and other medical response skills.

11. Manage and coordinate the respiratory protection training and respiratory fit certifications for required individuals.

12. Direct and develop wellness activities to help associates improve overall well-being.

13. Understand, adhere to, routinely review, and update the site Medical Manual for the site. Ensure the Medical Manual is reviewed and approved by the Company Physician at required intervals and after revision.

14. SAFETY – Adhere to all plant safety policies and compliance regulations. Actively participate in the safety process by completing safety audits, participating in safety projects, identifying Site Hazards, contributing to safety improvements, and being an attending member of a safety team. Complete annual safety training as required. Enforce

safety rules and encourage associates to be active members of safety teams.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Valid nursing licenses (RN) in the state of practice 

 

Preferred:

Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or experience in Occupational Health Nurse role.

Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of South Carolina

First Aid/CPR/AED instructor certification

 

The successful candidate should possess the following:

1. Strong written and verbal communication skills

2. Knowledge of MS Office software, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

3. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of people while maintaining strict confidentiality.

4. Ability to develop and communicate individual action plans based upon several competing and potentially conflicting boundaries

5. Ability to create effective training material and present training to small and medium-sized audiences

 

Comments:

Monday – Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Overtime: On call basis
