Senior Process Engineer



This position is located at Borchers Americas in Franklin, PA and reports to the Plant Manager. This position will help lead an operations team that is focused on producing chemicals for industrials customers.  The position has responsibility for process design, safety, quality, cost, waste reduction, process reliability, efficiency, and process training.  The position is assigned to a first shift, Monday-Friday work schedule. After hours work may be required as needed.



  • Develop a thorough understanding of all factors and conditions that impact the processes and products, including environmental impacts
  • Direct and control chemical processes in accordance with defined policies and procedures
  • Create and maintain procedures for chemical processes
  • Identify equipment and process changes to improve cost, quality, and safety of operations
  • Identify opportunities, analyze problems, and implement solutions using critical thinking skills and systematic focused improvement methods
  • Support New Product Development from small-scale trials through manufacturing scale-up activities
  • Provide organizational guidance regarding raw material requirements, specifications, and sourcing
  • Perform analytical testing and reporting of raw materials, work-in-process, packaging and finished product for product approval and release as needed
  • Support Operational Excellence initiatives by leading teams through implementation of OpEx methodologies
  • Work effectively with a diverse group of associates to track and report performance and improvement toward project and location goals
  • Provide chemical expertise to the organization with respect to regulatory, compliance, safety, manufacturing, purchasing, sales & marketing activities



  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a chemical process/engineering role
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office and statistics software
  • Experience with Operational Excellence methodologies (5S, Daily Management Systems, DMAIC, and Quality Management)
  • General knowledge of Industrial Hygiene
  • Ability to climb stairs, obtain medical clearance to wear a respirator, discern odors and colors



  • 7+ years of experience in a chemical process/engineering role in a similar organization
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, SAP, Database information structure, and programming
  • Experience implementing Operational Excellence Systems such as TPM and TPS
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining Process Safety Management Systems
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Leadership experience
