POSITION OVERVIEW

The Production Supervisor must be able to assist the Production Manager and follow up on any open items dealing with the floor.  Also, has overall responsibility for coordinating and managing assigned resources and associates to meet safety, quality and production goals.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Quality

a.  Investigate and communicate quality concerns.

b.  Conduct audits of varying types.

c.  Drive continuous improvement.

d.  Monitor product quality and take appropriate action when not meeting specifications

2.  Safety

a.  Lead and organize investigation of safety incidents.

b.  Be a First Responder.

c.  Continuously monitor safety processes and compliance.

d.   Engage in Safety Standard Work, such as conducting daily compliance audits, leading toolbox talks / shift meetings around safety topics, attend safety subcommittee meetings, etc.

3.  Productivity

a.  Ensure shift is properly manned and call in associates as needed to cover for attendance issues or run job himself or herself.

b.  Lead projects assigned by management and communicate status to management on a routine basis.

c.  Assist with shipping and receiving as necessary.

d.  Maintain housekeeping for entire location.  Audit each area of the plant for housekeeping, assign ownership to associates, and follow up.

e.  Take appropriate action to keep production moving.

f.   Apply good judgment on when to involve management concerning an issue no matter the time of day or night.

g.  Utilize key operating indicators for control of product cost, material usage, machine downtime, and expenditure control.

h.  Support and implement any special instructions provided by plant leadership team.

i.   Be knowledgeable on all departmental operating procedures, safety practices, and work instructions.

4.  Personnel

a.  Enforce discipline.

b.  Give direction to shift shop personnel.

c.  Assign associates to tasks and hold them responsible.

d.  Ensure associates are properly trained and assist with scheduling retraining as necessary or conduct the training if necessary.

e.  Maintain attendance records and record conversations at the 4, 7, and 10 day milestones and other disciplinary or complimentary conversations.

f.   Keep up with all certification on his or her shift.  Follow up on all OJT paperwork and training.

g.  Communicating expectations and holding people accountable.

h.  Develop and maintain respectful workforce.

i.   Conduct performance evaluations and implement development plans when required.

j.   Achieve results through others.

k.   Enforce all training practices that exist for various roles in the production area /  department.

5.  Administrative

a.  Lead team meeting.

b.  Ensure proper paperwork is being completed.

c.  Ability to use current computer software and hardware.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current or prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Minimum education level of High School or GED. 
  • Ability to use current computer software (MS Office and Outlook) and hardware as defined by the location.
  • Be at the top pay rate for current location within the job classification the associate is currently assigned.  Associates on support or entry level jobs will not be considered. (Internal candidates only)
  • Must be able to lead team and shift meetings.
  • Able to achieve results through others.
  • Must be able to work the required schedule including some weekends.
  • Ability to make sound, logical decisions.
  • Willing to be trained in CPR, First Aid, and Defibrillator.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION

This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud. Temperatures can be more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity level can be more than 98% for 100% of day.
