Job Description:
The open position is an Exempt Salary, IT position, created to provide site IT support for the associates working at the Milliken "Highland" Industrial Fabrics Manufacturing Facility, located in Cheraw, South Carolina. The Systems Engineer I serves as the primary on-site IT resource for our manufacturing facility, providing hands-on technical support for systems, networks, and end users. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of IT systems that support manufacturing operations. The Systems Engineer I will play a key role in the company’s transition to SAP, assisting with system readiness, user support, troubleshooting, and coordination with corporate IT and external partners to ensure a smooth and successful implementation.
Job Summary: We are looking for a tech-savvy IT Site Support person to be responsible for providing technical assistance with computer systems, hardware, and software. As an IT Support person, you are responsible for responding to email, in-person, or phone queries and for offering technical support to the Plant using computer systems, hardware, and software. To be a successful IT Support person, you should be well-versed in all aspects of computer systems configuration, set up, and maintenance. You should also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will be working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & End-User Support

Serve as the primary IT point of contact for the manufacturing facility.

Provide day-to-day technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues impacting production and office staff.

Support shop-floor systems, workstations, scanners, label printers, and other manufacturing-related technology.

Ensure minimal downtime and rapid response to production-impacting IT issues.
Systems & Infrastructure
-
Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of servers, networks, and systems.

Support Windows-based environments, Active Directory, user accounts, and access controls.

Assist with patching, updates, backups, and system documentation.

Coordinate with corporate IT on infrastructure standards, cybersecurity policies, and best practices.
SAP Implementation & Support

Support the transition to SAP during implementation and go-live phases.

Assist with system setup, testing, data validation, and issue resolution related to SAP.

Provide first-level SAP user support and escalate issues as needed.

Partner with business users to troubleshoot system-related process issues.

Assist with user training, documentation, and change management activities.
Security & Compliance

Follow IT security policies and assist in maintaining compliance with internal controls.

Help monitor systems for security risks and report incidents as required.

Ensure proper access controls for systems supporting manufacturing operations.
Continuous Improvement
-
Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, and user experience.

Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

Support additional IT projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
-
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

1–3 years of experience in a systems, desktop, or IT support role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office.

Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

Experience supporting end users in a fast-paced, operational environment.

Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience supporting manufacturing or plant-floor environments.
-
Exposure to ERP systems; SAP experience or implementation support is a strong plus.

Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and basic server administration.

Experience working with ticketing systems and IT documentation.
-
Understanding of OT/IT environments or shop-floor systems is a plus.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Must be responsible for your personal safety, comply with all site safety rules, attend required safety meetings and report all accidents and near misses immediately.

Ability to work on-site at the manufacturing facility.

Ability to walk the production floor and support equipment in industrial environments.

Occasional lifting of IT equipment (up to 50 lbs).

Flexibility to support off-hours or go-live activities during the SAP implementation as needed.
