Wellington Plant, Bury is part of Milliken’s Performance Textiles Division and is a multi-award-winning textile manufacturer supplying fabric products into Airbag systems for automotive vehicles. As a showcase site for our Performance Solutions Business, we regularly host visits from multinational companies as well as being a host site for events involving the Manufacturing Institute and Onsite Insights. An opportunity as arisen to join our world class Automotive Textile Company to assist with and supervise (as required) the European Airbag business requirements for Laboratory Testing. In return, the role will provide the right person the opportunity to develop and grow both personally and within the business environment.

 

Role (summary)

 

The Assistant Laboratory Team Leader shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all laboratory testing
  • Ensuring continuing improvement of the laboratory process.
  • Ensuring compliance of laboratory testing to International and Customer specific requirements.
  • Ensuring the competence of laboratory associates.
  • Contributing to the risk management system.
  • Ensuring equipment is calibrated.
  • Ensuring that gage R&R is completed.
  • Ensuring safe working practices are followed by laboratory associates.
  • Ensuring the administration & maintenance of the Airbag Test Cert Sharepoint site.
  • Providing solutions to customer requests / complaints.
  • Promotion of the lean and risk processes internally.
  • Undertaking any other duties or activities reasonably requested in order to meet departmental or company goals.

 

Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Experience of working in a busy manufacturing lab environment.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills are required at all levels both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work without supervision and manage interaction with colleagues.
  • Excellent organisational skills and effective team player.

  • Hours of work:   6am – 2pm/2pm-10pm: Monday - Friday
