POSITION TITLE

Maintenance Engineer (Advanced to Senior)

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the daily management and long-term optimization of plant maintenance, reliability, and asset performance within a PSM-covered facility. This role integrates maintenance execution, reliability engineering, and systems performance to reduce reactive maintenance, improve equipment uptime, and optimize lifecycle cost performance. The position encompasses production equipment, utilities, facility infrastructure, and maintenance systems, while supporting capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives. This individual serves as a key link between Engineering Services, Maintenance, Operations, and technical systems, ensuring work is planned, prioritized, and executed in alignment with safety, reliability, and business objectives.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety & Environmental Leadership
    • Promote and enforce all safety, environmental, and PSM/MI regulatory requirements
    • Lead or support safety initiatives including VPP participation, audits, and incident investigations
    • Identify and mitigate safety risks related to equipment reliability
    • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and Responsible Care initiatives
  • Maintenance & Reliability Execution
    • Manage daily maintenance activities including breakdown, preventive, and predictive maintenance
    • Develop and improve maintenance strategies to enhance reliability
    • Reduce reactive maintenance through Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • Drive resolution of top ‘bad  actor’s equipment
    • Support maintenance teams to improve execution quality
  • Predictive Maintenance (PdM)
    • Oversee PdM technologies including vibration, oil analysis, infrared, and ultrasonic monitoring
    • Ensure findings are prioritized and converted into actionable work
    • Improve PdM program effectiveness
  • CMMS & Maintenance Systems
    • Utilize CMMS to manage work orders and maintenance activities
    • Improve data quality and workflow effectiveness
    • Optimize preventive maintenance and job plans
  • Planning & Outage Management
    • Plan and execute unit outages and shutdowns
    • Prioritize backlog based on risk and operational impact
    • Support backlog reduction and workload balancing
  • MRO Strategy
    • Manage spare parts strategy and inventory optimization
    • Ensure availability of critical components while controlling cost
    • Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Cost Management
    • Control expenditures and drive cost reduction initiatives
    • Analyze maintenance cost and performance data
    • Support budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Technical Support
    • Provide troubleshooting and engineering support
    • Support equipment design, modification, and commissioning
    • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes
  • Leadership & People Development
    • Lead and develop maintenance and reliability personnel
    • Ensure work is executed effectively and safely
    • Promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • General
    • Maintain strong communication with stakeholders and vendors
    • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives
    • Perform additional duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:

  • BS Engineering degree (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
  • 1+ Years’ Manufacturing Experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate leadership experience
  • Experience with CMMS systems
  • Knowledge of reliability tools (RCA, FMEA, PdM technologies)
  • Project management and cost control experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • 3+ Years’ Manufacturing Experience
