Encapsys (www.encapsys.com), now a part of Milliken & Company (www.milliken.com) is looking to hire student co-ops for the 2023 calendar year to join their R&D teams in Appleton, WI. This is a competitively paid co-op position being offered to students in a Chemical Engineering, Material Science/Engineering, or Chemistry program. Co-ops are also offered a special benefits package which includes a bi-weekly housing allowance and paid holidays. 

 

Encapsys operates in the specialty chemicals industry. Holding over 75 encapsulation patents, Encapsys is a leader in encapsulation technologies within three primary business segments – Fragrance, Phase change, and Growth. Encapsys operates highly scalable encapsulation processes that deliver superior products with batch size flexibility from drum to tanker sizes. Encapsys participates in the global encapsulation market currently estimated at $4 billion. 

 

Encapsys takes pride in providing co-ops with opportunities to build strong resumes through matching individual interests with available projects.  The Encapsys co-op students comprise up to 20% of the technical workforce, therefore Encapsys provides projects with a high level of responsibility that have strong impacts on the bottom line. Co-ops will work on both collaborative and independent projects in conjunction with the engineer/scientist project leaders. Each co-op is assigned a mentor to provide guidance through the processes of training, developing, and contributing. 

 

Research and development plays a vital role in our position as a leader in the encapsulation market. Ongoing investment in R&D will continue to enable us to develop core competencies in encapsulation processes and applications and grow our business with new and existing customers.   

 

Typical job duties for an R&D co-op include:

  • Designing, planning, conducting and analyzing lab experiments
  • Partnering with engineers/scientists on pilot or production experimental trials
  • Producing written summary reports and presentations
  • Evaluating trial products
  • Current co-op projects include:
  • New product developments
  • Product line extensions
  • Cost and quality improvement projects
  • Prototype development
  • New product scale-ups

 

Education, experience and qualifications:

  • Educational background includes individuals earning their B.S. or M.S. with at least a 3.00 GPA in any of the following programs:
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Chemistry
    • Material Science/Engineering
  • Other supporting competencies include:
