Who Do We Hire?
Although Industrial Engineering, Math and Logistics majors are great candidates, we are very interested in anyone who comes to work with Milliken in a manufacturing area who demonstrates outstanding performance and shows aptitudes toward supply chain management skills.

We’re seeking indivuals who skill set includes:

  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle many opportunities at one time
  • Process-oriented toward problem solving and proactive process improvement
  • Pattern recognition and systems orientation

What Will You Do?
Supply Chain Management(SCM) associates have multiple duties and responsibilities, always focusing on superior on-time customer delivery while optimizing quality, cost and inventory levels. This means following up on each order, scheduling and sequencing to insure on-time delivery. SCM leaders in the plant are also responsible for controlling inventories at the plant, reducing cycle times, using Milliken systems effectively and communicating with plant, corporate SCM and the businesses to make sure everyone knows of any issues that would prevent on-time delivery.

SCM associates must understand manufacturing processes, forecasting, simulations, scheduling and computer modeling. The goal is to create the optimum logistics of product and process flow from receipt of the order to customer delivery -- at the lowest possible cost and cycle time.

Where Can You Go?
Generally speaking, we start new associates in process improvement where they learn about the plant and processes. You’ll begin in manufacturing and gain that experience before coming into Supply Chain Management(SCM).

If plant SCM associates continue to perform well and want to pursue a career in SCM, they can be promoted within the SCM function, going from small plants to larger ones, and from one technology to another -- with the potential of being promoted into the corporate SCM areas within Milliken. We want to build experience, as this is one division that is served well by promoting from within.

If associates perform well in SCM and choose to explore other functions within Milliken, many opportunities exist. Milliken offers a variety of roles and positions that you may attain throughout your career.
