Who Do We Hire?
The majority of our Marketing and Sales associates begin their Milliken career at a manufacturing location in a technical or manufacturing entry-level position. Associates in Marketing and Sales have had successful careers in a variety of areas throughout the company prior to taking a sales and marketing position.

We do have a small number of entry-level positions in our Milliken Chemical division. Due to the highly technical nature of this sales area, graduates hired have an engineering or science major.

The skills and personal qualities that make an individual successful in Milliken Marketing and Sales are:

  • A juggler - Flexibility to manage multiple situations and projects
  • A communicator - Effective oral and written communication skills
  • An organizer - Excellent organizational skills
  • A leader - Self-confidence and interpersonal skills
  • A doer - Strong work ethic

What Will You Do?
Sales-In-Training associates typically work 1-2 years in the laboratory as a practicing scientist or engineer while learning about our products and methods. You then move into a field sales role with a sales territory in the continental U.S.A. or Canada. You’ll have opportunities to interact with all levels of management throughout Milliken & Company.

Job duties include:

  • Contributing to research projects
  • Providing technical support
  • Evaluating new products
  • Preparing product data
  • Traveling to customer facilities
  • Reviewing technical reports

Where Can You Go?
Milliken promotes from within so there are many career opportunities available once you have established yourself and are successful in your current position. You can move into career areas outside of the technical sales function or you can be promoted to more responsible positions aligned with the Marketing and Sales career path.

Examples of available career fields are:

  • Market Analyst and Planner
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Finance
  • Business Management
  • Research and Product Development
