What Will You Do?
Engineering Services associates ensure that all of the operations of a facility run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities include monitoring all of the utilities and systems of the plant, including wastewater treatment, boilers, HVAC, security systems, fire alarms, sprinkler systems and upkeep of the buildings and grounds.
You will also play a major role in the safety, training, scheduling and management planning and predictive maintenance of all equipment in a location. Your team will include engineers, mechanics, technicians and electricians. Another responsibility may be acting as the emergency preparedness coordinator for a location.
A typical day may involve:
- Team meetings to discuss safety and maintenance schedules
- 24-hour plant summary reviews in the mornings
- Contacting suppliers and vendors
- Supervising all location processes
- Failure analysis of equipment
Where Can You Go?
Your short-team goal may be Engineering Services Department Leader and the Engineering Services Leader for a location. There will be many opportunities to move into Corporate Engineering, Equipment Design/Project Management, Product/Process Improvement, Manufacturing Management and Plant Management.
